From May 1, 2026, travellers using a Wise Travel Card will be able to withdraw more money from ATMs before paying any fees.
+ They will be able to take out $400 a month for free, with no limit on the number of withdrawals.
+ And Wise is removing the fixed fee of $1.50 per ATM withdrawal, too.
+ But the variable fee for the card is increasing from 1.75 per cent to 2.69 per cent. That’s the fee they are charged as a percentage of the amount they withdrawing over the free monthly limit.
A spokesperson adds: “Whenever you make a withdrawal overseas, you’ll always get the best exchange rate we can offer and on average save 35 per cent with Wise instead of other providers.”
MY TIP I use a Wise card and always withdraw cash in the local currency. When withdrawing cash from ATMs abroad, always choose the currency of the country you’re in and Wise automatically converts it in your account at the best exchange rate it can offer.
