The Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program 2026-2027, offered by the U.S. Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, provides secondary school teachers with graduate-level professional development in the United States. The fully funded program combines academic seminars, a supervised teaching practicum, and professional networking to strengthen modern teaching practices and educational leadership.

The Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program is a prestigious professional development opportunity for secondary-level teachers in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

For the 2026-2027 academic cycle, the program offers selected educators intensive training in innovative teaching methodologies, student-centered learning, instructional technology, and practical classroom engagement at U.S. host universities.

The Fulbright TEA Program is a non-degree, professional exchange initiative funded by the U.S. Department of State.

It is designed to strengthen teaching skills, promote educational excellence, and foster mutual understanding by immersing international educators in U.S. academic and secondary school environments.

The program aims to:

* Enhance teaching effectiveness through modern pedagogical approaches

* Promote student-centered and content-based instruction

* Strengthen lesson planning and instructional technology skills

* Foster professional collaboration between U.S. and international educators

* Encourage long-term knowledge sharing in participants’ home countries

The Fulbright TEA Program combines academic learning, hands-on classroom experience, and professional networking.

Participants attend tailored, graduate-level seminars at a U.S. host university focusing on:

Each participant completes a minimum 40-hour practicum in a U.S. secondary school.

During the practicum, teachers will:

* Observe classroom instruction

* Co-teach lessons with a U.S. partner teacher

* Engage directly with students

* Experience U.S. classroom management and assessment practices

The program includes cultural activities, mentoring, and continuous support throughout the fellowship period.

Eligibility is limited to qualified secondary school teachers from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Applicants must:

* Be citizens and residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina

* Be current, full-time secondary-level teachers

* Teach at least half-time in a secondary school

* Hold at least a bachelor’s degree

* Have a minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience

* Demonstrate sufficient English proficiency for academic engagement

* Meet all J-1 visa requirements

* Commit to returning to Bosnia and Herzegovina for at least two years after the program

The program is open to teachers in the following subjects:

* U.S. citizens or permanent residents

* Teachers who do not meet the minimum secondary teaching requirement

* Individuals with recent U.S. exchange or study experience within restricted timeframes

* Employees or immediate family members of employees connected to the U.S. Department of State under program rules

The Fulbright TEA Program is fully funded.

* International round-trip travel to the United States

* Housing on or near the host university campus

* Maintenance allowance for daily living and program-related expenses

* Academic training and practicum placement

* Mentoring and professional development support

* Participants must arrive in the U.S. on the official program start date

* Participants must return home at the end of the program

* Personal travel during the program is strictly limited

* Dependents are not permitted to accompany participants

The Fulbright TEA Program strengthens educational systems by investing in teachers as change agents.

* Improves classroom teaching quality

Upon returning home, participants are expected to disseminate their learning within their schools and communities.

TOEFL scores are not required at the initial application stage, but finalists must submit valid scores later. Testing support will be provided by the U.S. Embassy.

* Program period: 2026-2027 academic year
