What is it like to be a Black artist in mostly white spaces?
I got to ask that question of Chicago-based blues guitarist Nathan Graham in the first episode of REVERB, a new, six-part video series by GANGGANG, in partnership with Mirror Indy.
Each session features interviews with Black artists in Indiana and across the Midwest and blends original performances with reinterpretations of Black legends.
The series, which kicked off Dec. 19, is presented by I Made Rock N Roll, a GANGGANG initiative that celebrates the role of Black artists in shaping rock ‘n’ roll history. It started with a festival in May 2024 at the American Legion Mall and has transformed into a year-round education program.
The first three REVERB sessions were recorded at the White Rabbit Cabaret in Fountain Square. After his performance, Graham and I chatted about his music inspirations and what it means to feel seen.
