The Ohanaeze Youth Movement has declared that President Bola Tinubu is now assured of a landslide victory in Rivers State in the upcoming 2027 elections following the defection of Governor Siminalayi Fubara to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group described the governor’s move as a historic political development that has significantly reshaped the political landscape of Rivers State in favour of the ruling party and the President.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its South-South Coordinator, Emeka Kanu, the Movement said Governor Fubara’s decision to align with the APC-led Federal Government reflected “political maturity, patriotism, and a deep commitment to the overall development and stability of Rivers State.”
Kanu noted that the defection had strategically repositioned Rivers State to benefit maximally from President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“With this bold and visionary decision, Rivers State is now better placed to enjoy increased collaboration with the Federal Government in key areas such as infrastructure development, economic empowerment, youth development, and security,” he said.
According to the Ohanaeze Youth Movement, Governor Fubara’s strong grassroots appeal, combined with the growing acceptance of the APC across communities in Rivers State, has altered the balance of political forces in the state.
“This development has unified progressive forces in Rivers State and significantly weakened opposition structures. With Governor Fubara now firmly in the APC, President Tinubu’s popularity and acceptance in Rivers State have received a massive boost that guarantees overwhelming support and electoral victory,” the statement read.
The group also commended President Tinubu for what it described as his inclusive leadership style, noting that it continues to attract leaders across party lines who are committed to national unity and good governance.
“The President’s ability to carry everyone along, irrespective of political affiliation, is strengthening democracy and fostering unity across the country,” Kanu added.
The Ohanaeze Youth Movement further called on youths in Rivers State to rally behind Governor Fubara and the APC-led Federal Government to ensure sustained peace, stability, and development, stressing that political realignment should be viewed as a pathway to progress rather than division.
Reaffirming its support for the Tinubu administration, the group pledged to mobilise youths across Rivers State in support of government policies and programmes aimed at economic growth, national cohesion, and democratic consolidation.
