Raw Bistro Pet Fare and Foodynamics are recalling multiple pet food products over a risk of salmonella contamination, the FDA announced.
Two popular pet food companies — Raw Bistro Pet Fare and Foodynamics — have issued voluntary recalls of multiple dog and cat food products over a risk of salmonella contamination, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced earlier this month in separate press releases.
Raw Bistro Pet Fare of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, issued a Oct. 10 recall of two sizes of its frozen beef dog food: “Raw Bistro Dog Fare Grass-Fed Beef Entrée, Frozen” in 3-pound bags and “Raw Bistro Dog Fare Grass-Fed Beef Entrée, Bulk, Frozen” in 18-pound cases.
Meanwhile, Foodynamics of Wales, Wisconsin, issued an Oct. 9 recall of multiple varieties of its freeze dried pet treats sold under the brand names Raw Dog Barkery, BellePepper Cats, Kanu Pets and What’s In the Bowl.
Both recalls come after FDA samplings of the products revealed the presence of salmonella. No adverse health effects have been reported in pets or humans to date, the FDA said.
The products are sold in frozen sealed packages and feature a best-by date of Aug. 27, 2026 and lot number 239 printed on the packaging near the bottom of the back of the bag or box.
The products were shipped to customers and distributors in California, Colorado, Illinois and Minnesota between Sept. 1 and Sept. 17.
Foodynamics has recalled several varieties of its freeze-dried pet treats sold under the brand names Raw Dog Barkery, BellePepper Cats, Kanu Pets, and What’s In the Bowl. The products are:
(Consumers should note that an earlier version of the Foodynamics recall misidentified some of the products.)
The recalled Foodymanics products were shipped to retailers in Wisconsin, New York and Florida. A total of eight Foodymanics packages were distributed to consumers in these areas, the FDA said.
Foodynamics was able to trace all the recalled products and has reached out directly to customers. Click here for the product photos of more information.
Both companies issued their recalls after random FDA samplings of their products revealed the presence of salmonella.
No illnesses in either people or pets have been reported in connection with either company’s recall, the agency said.
Salmonella is a bacterial food-borne illness that can cause gastrointestinal symptoms and a fever in both humans and animals, the Mayo Clinic says. The bacteria typically live in the intestines of animals and humans and are shed through feces.
Healthy people infected with salmonella or listeria should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms:
The symptoms of salmonella infection can last for a few days up to a week. Diarrhea may last up to 10 days, but it may take several months before bowels return to usual stool habits.
Pregnant women, older people, infants, young children and those with weak immune systems are more vulnerable to infection.
Anyone exhibiting these symptoms after handling the products should contact their healthcare providers.
Consumers are urged to return the recalled products at their point of purchase for a full refund.
Do not feed the recalled product to pets or other animals. Dispose of the products in a safe way that does not allow children, pets, or wildlife to access them.
Consumers should wash and sanitize their hands after handling the recalled products and they should also wash and sanitize pet food bowls, cups, and storage containers, utensils and surfaces that came in contact with the products.
