A delegation from the private sector will visit Mexico next week on a fact finding mission on how Zimbabwe can learn the best approach for producing grain through contract farming.
Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe chairperson, Tafadzwa Musarara says Mexico is ranked as one of the countries with the best models of producing surplus grain in the world.
He added that a delegation from the private sector will visit Mexico next week on a fact finding mission to study that country’s contract farming model with a view to learning how it could be applied locally to support resettled farmers and boost grain production.
According to the International Grain Council, Mexico is one of the world’s biggest producers of grain and the country’s maize production is forecast at 23.5 million tonnes this year.
