Privacy-focused infrastructure company Zama has raised $57 million in a Series B funding round, pushing its valuation above $1 billion, according to a statement released Wednesday.
The raise comes just days ahead of the anticipated July 1 launch of the Zama Confidential Blockchain Protocol testnet.
The round was co-led by Pantera Capital and Blockchange, with participation from several strategic investors focused on privacy tech, blockchain infrastructure, and AI applications.
Zama Introduces Cross-Chain Confidentiality Layer
Founded to bring advanced encryption to Web3, Zama is building what it calls the most developer-friendly, fast, and secure Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) scheme — a technology that allows computations on encrypted data without revealing the underlying information.
Unlike traditional blockchains, the new Zama Confidential Blockchain Protocol is not a chain itself. Instead, it functions as a cross-chain confidentiality layer that integrates with existing blockchains, enabling confidential smart contracts.
“Today, we are unveiling our most ambitious product to date,” said co-founder Rand Hindi in a post on X. “We’re enabling confidential smart contracts on top of existing chains.”
Zama’s encryption stack is already licensed by dozens of companies operating across the blockchain and AI sectors.

With the Series B funding secured and the testnet set to go live, Zama is positioning itself as a key player in the growing demand for on-chain privacy solutions. As blockchains expand into enterprise, DeFi, and AI integrations, privacy-preserving technologies like Zama’s are likely to become foundational layers in next-generation infrastructure.
