Yuga Labs, the popular blockchain technology firm best known in the non-fungible token market for creating a variety of non-fungible token collections, including the Bored Ape Yacht Club and the Mutant Ape Yacht Club, has revealed the roadmap for its Otherside metaverse project. In a June 26 blog post, the Bored Ape NFT creator has revealed the roadmap for its Otherside metaverse game. Yuga Labs is a blockchain technology company that develops non-fungible tokens and digital collectibles. It specializes in the fields of blockchain, cryptocurrency, and digital media. This NFT company is envisioned to shape the future of NFTs via storytelling, experiences, and strong communities.
Yuga Labs is home to leading NFT collections in the NFT market. They are the creators of notable NFT collections like the Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC), Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), and Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC). The Bored Ape Creator is also the team behind the Twelvefold, Koda, and Kodamara NFT collections. Previously, Yuga Labs held the IP for Punks and Meebits NFT collections, but sold them earlier this year to Infinite Node Foundation.
Beyond NFTs, Yuga Labs has developed the Otherside metaverse. Otherside is a metaverse project built on the Ethereum blockchain, utilizing Improbable’s M² technology. This metaverse game combines elements of MMORPGs and Web3 virtual worlds, where users can explore, interact, and create content within a shared virtual space. The NFT platform leverages Web3 technologies, allowing for on-chain interactions, ownership of Otherdeed NFTs, and community-driven development.
In July 2025, Yuga Labs anticipates launching Bathroom Blitz, an eight-by-eight death match in the BAYC bathroom. The BAYC bathroom is a collaborative digital graffiti board that is part of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT project. It’s a virtual space where BAYC holders can draw or write on a shared canvas, similar to the graffiti on the walls of a dive bar bathroom. This interactive feature is one of the perks offered to BAYC NFT owners.
The Bathroom Blitz metaverse gaming experience will stay live for a few weeks while the Yuga team gathers feedback, makes improvements, and prepares for more concurrent experiences. This game will be activated using Voyager XP. Retroactive XP for prior engagement will roll out ahead of launching the persistent state. Retroactive XP in the Otherside game refers to the upcoming distribution of experience points for past engagement within the platform, specifically for the “Voyager” experience.
Before the end of July 2025, the Otherside NFT creator also anticipates launching Meet Me at the Clubhouse. This experience will be in the newly upgraded Bubbles gaming experience. To access this activation, players will be required to have integrated community feedback from the previous versions and improved capacity from 100 people to 500 people in a single Bubble. Furthermore, Deeplink integration will allow Bubbles’ gaming experience to be streamed to external platforms, and users to join directly via link.
In the subsequent months, the Yuga Labs team has also announced plans to roll out almost 1,000 assets from all 29 Otherdeed Biomes to ODK developers. These releases set the stage for Otherdeeds and Voyager 2.0 later this year, and the Resources system beginning next year. The NFT company has also made several innovations to the game. When you interact with an object, like a token, you’ll actually be interacting with and collecting it on-chain.
Notably, not everyone needs to go through the ODK to create on the Otherside NFT game. Every Otherdeed holder will be able to access creation tools for the graffiti stickers, emotes, and Voyager 2.0 platforms, enabling new content or opportunities to extend the utility of existing collections. These are royalty-protected platforms ensuring that creators have an avenue to sustainable, ongoing engagement.
