In celebration of the series’ 30th anniversary, Ubisoft has reiterated the fact that it is still working on a new Rayman project. It has been over a decade since what was once Ubisoft’s premier series got a new game on consoles.

Currently, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown studio Ubisoft Montpellier and Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope developer Ubisoft Milan are working on the Rayman games. A new rumor from Insider Gaming has given us even more details about what they are working on.

Ubisoft confirms the Rayman series will return We may not hear any updates on the project for a while, though

Ubisoft actually teased Rayman’s return at a fan-hosted livestream event called Rayman Alive. While the stream mostly served to highlight fan-made Rayman projects, Ubisoft did provide a video where brand manager Loic Gounon thanks fans for their support.

He then teased the future of the series with the following statement, while showing concept art of what Ubisoft is working on:

“As we said in the past, a very talented team at Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan are currently working together on the future of Rayman. Don’t expect news from us too soon, but rest assured Rayman is in good hands.”

This video was then posted on the official Rayman X account, which had not been used since the website was called Twitter and not owned by Elon Musk. The account is now themed to celebrate the series’ 30th anniversary, and will apparently feature developer interviews and more going forward. After Rayman Legends was released in 2013, Ubisoft’s focus shifted to other franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. It’s only in recent years that Rayman himself has gotten more attention, as he starred in a DLC expansion for Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope.

Ubisoft first teased a new Rayman project was in the works last year after it canceled plans for a sequel to Prince of Persia: The Last Crown. While Ubisoft won’t reveal what the Rayman projects it’s working on, Insider Gaming has released a report detailing what’s in the works. According to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, a remake of a Rayman game with a late 2026 release window is in the works, and development is going well. If that game launches and meets Ubisoft’s expectations, the report also claims that the company will then greenlight Rayman 4. We hadn’t heard anything about it since then, so it’s good to hear Rayman is still a priority for two internal Ubisoft studios despite all of the shake-ups the company is currently going through.
