World Liberty Financial, a Trump-linked decentralized finance project, will release 20% of tokens purchased by presale participants on Sept. 1, 2025, coinciding with its long-awaited Ethereum launch. The announcement, made on Aug. 23 via X, signals WLFI’s transition from a governance-only asset to a fully tradable token—already valued by futures markets at more than $40 billion.
Token unlock and Lockbox system
Presale participants who bought in at $0.015 and $0.05 can unlock 20% of their allocations—roughly 5% of WLFI’s 100 billion supply. The remaining 80% will be released only through a governance vote, placing future distribution under community control. Tokens reserved for the team, founders, and advisors remain locked.
Investors must use WLFI’s Lockbox, an audited smart contract built by Cyfrin, to claim tokens. The Lockbox went live on Aug. 25, giving holders a week to activate before trading starts on Sept. 1.
Market Outlook and Exchange Launches
WLFI tokens are set to debut on Ethereum-based decentralized exchanges like Uniswap (UNI), with listings on major centralized platforms—including Binance, Bybit, and OKX—expected shortly after. Futures markets currently price WLFI between $0.40 and $0.42, implying a fully diluted valuation above $40 billion.
The presale attracted strong demand, with more than 85,000 wallets contributing an estimated $550 million to $2.26 billion. While analysts warn of potential volatility driven by thin liquidity at launch, some forecast WLFI could climb to $1 in the near term.
Community and Political Landscape
WLFI’s roadmap places strong emphasis on community governance, with token holders empowered to decide unlock schedules, treasury allocations, and upcoming initiatives. In July, 99.94% of voters backed making the token tradable.
Still, its ties to the Trump family have sparked political scrutiny, with critics citing possible conflicts of interest—especially in light of the recently passed GENIUS Act. Regulatory developments remain a key uncertainty for WLFI’s long-term trajectory.
