A HIGHLIGHT of this year’s events calendar in Worcester was the Bridge of Lights Festival.
Severn Arts has been reflecting on the event’s success since it was held at the end of October.
More than 20,000 visitors viewed the light artworks co-created with community groups from across the city over two evenings on October 29 and October 30.
Bridges of Light also generated significant online interest, achieving a digital reach of 483,308 and more than 27,822 social video views. Media coverage included a TV interview, four radio interviews and 21 press articles.
A team of 24 creative practitioners worked alongside 12 different community groups to bring the artworks to life. From these groups, 150 people contributed to the Iridescent Light Trail, with a further 113 collaborating on Cygnet Song.
One visitor said: “I wish more light festivals took the same leap of faith, allowing artists to respond to places and people. I think the community element made the artworks really special, and audiences could see and feel that.”
Another said: “It was truly inspiring to see Worcester so full of life – alive with laughter, smiles and the joyful footsteps of little ones exploring alongside their adults. The city was buzzing with energy as people came together to meet friends old and new, children away from screens to enjoy art, light and the beauty of Worcester itself.”
