A bargain hunter was delighted when she discovered an unexpected item on sale at TK Maxx. Bethany Slack was browsing her local shop when a candle piqued her interest.
The savvy shopper, who co-runs The Luxury Pickers on Instagram with her partner Austin, quickly identified the candle as a luxury Boy Smells “Magnum”. These are typically found in luxury shops like Harrods, so she was chuffed by the find. It was especially exciting to learn the product had been discounted by £45.
Posting a picture of the item online, Bethany gushed: “What I’m about to show you will blow your mind. Now this isn’t just any Boy Smells candle, this is the rare, highly talked about Magnum. Now if you put Magnum with anything, it’s going to mean it’s really good. These are stocked in Harrods.”
On Kith’s website, the Magnum candle is listed at £80, but is currently out of stock due to high demand. Given its popularity, some shoppers have even listed their Boy Smells Magnum candles on eBay for as much as £286.70.
However, the 765g three-wick candle is being sold for £34.99 at TK Maxx. Talk about a bargain!
While Bethany spotted the bargain buy in Somerset, it’s also been seen in other parts of the country. For this reason, she urged shoppers to “run” and grab one for themselves.
Responding to her post, one user admitted: “Omg I saw this in TK Maxx today and thought it was just like a normal candle with a gimmicky name and walked straight past.”
Meanwhile, a second commented: “Amazing find, but seriously, I have no words.” And a third added: “Love watching your content! Popping down to TK Maxx in the morn, thanks!”
1. Shop early and often – TK Maxx receives deliveries several times a week, often on weekdays. Visit early in the day for the best selection. It’s also advisable to stop by regularly to get a chance to snap up the inventory that changes rapidly.
2. Look for sales – Head straight to the clearance racks, usually found at the back or sides of the store. These items are often heavily discounted. As well as this, keep an eye out for the “Gold Label” section for high-end designer pieces at a fraction of the original price.
3. Spot the stickers – Red stickers indicate a clearance item with a reduced price. However, yellow stickers are more sought-after because these are final clearance prices.
4. Check the app and website – Sometimes, bargains are available online that aren’t found in-store. Additionally, you can use the app to check stock at different locations.
5. Sign up for TX Maxx rewards – Join the reward scheme for exclusive offers, early sale access, and competitions. It can make all the difference!
