A woman found a handbag in a charity shop for £3.50 and sold it for £400 on Vinted. Kat Lambert, 37, says she has watched hours of authentication videos in a bid to build up her knowledge on what to look for when hitting the charity shops.

And it’s left her stumbling upon some gems; including a rare vintage Fendi bag. The item, which she snapped up for £3.50, was cleaned and listed on Vinted – and sold for 400.

Kat, from Bolton, said: “I just popped in for a quick mooch on the way back from a car boot sale. I could tell it was genuine straight away.

“It’s funny, because I got an offer for £300 within about two minutes of the listing and I was tempted to take it. But I decided not to, as I knew its worth. 10 minutes later, I got an offer for £100 more – and made a £396.50 profit.”

In a clip, which has racked up 17,000 views, Kat shows off the bag and its listing on Vinted. The title included lots of keywords, such as ‘rare’, ‘vintage’ and ’90s Bratz’ since they’re popular searches on the secondhand platform.

Kat, who found the bag at the Bolton Hospice shop, has come across vintage Mulberry bags, an Hermes scarf and various antique collectibles before. Due to her lucky scores, and expertise, she’s now teaching others on how they can make a lucrative side gig through reselling with her very own specialised guide.

She added: “I know how hard it is to be a stay-at-home mum and needing to find some extra pennies. A big tip when selling on Vinted – or anywhere else – is keywords. You can see from the title I used on the listing for the bag that they play a big part in getting your item sold.

“The brand name and colour description isn’t enough. Learn what to look for. It changes everything.”
