WINDSOR, N.Y. (WBNG) — Students from kindergarten to sixth grade wrapped up the end of their Knight Lights summer camp with ‘Water Celebration Day.’
“It’s a celebration of all the great things the campers have done throughout the week,” said Coordinator of Windsor Knight Lights Kara Clarke. “It gives them some really great experiences with STEM, fine motor, gross motor and this year we added in pathway experiences,” said Kara Clarke, Coordinator of the program.
While campers focused on building educational skills, they also spent the time making new friends.
“I learned a lot of social skills,” said camper Jaxson. “It helps me get new friends and be more friendly towards other people and at all the other stations, we learn stuff.”
The rain outside was a bonus for the water day celebration and students did not have to wait that long to dry off either.
Inside the gym, kids had the opportunity to play in a hot air balloon.
Other campers told 12 News about their favorite part of camp.
“Meeting new friends, having new teachers and being kind to one another,” said camper Priya. “There’s many things that I found interesting there, science, that made me want to go into more and I want to do it at my house more often with my mom.”
“My favorite part of summer is trying out all these new things,” said camper Corey. “We made this track so the Hot Wheels car would go into the bucket.”
“I’ve learned that some items in our house that we use every day that we don’t think of we can turn into some really cool crafts, said camper Jaxson. “We turned some dental floss into a bow and arrow.”
Organizers say the camp would not be as fun or successful without the help of everyone who comes in and puts it together.
“The truth about this program is that we had a really great program to build on,” said Clarke. “We have an amazing staff that comes back year after year. This year, there were just some tweaks to add some new experiences.”
