TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Dry eyes are one of the most common eye health complaints today. As reported by alodokter, dry eye syndrome is a condition where the eyes don’t receive enough lubrication from tears. This condition can cause discomfort and even damage the clear layer of the eyeball, resulting in impaired vision.
Several conditions can cause the eyes to lose lubrication and become dry. The first is a decrease in tear production due to aging, a history of diabetes, or the use of certain medications. There are also factors that increase tear evaporation, which ultimately leads to dry eyes. This increased evaporation occurs due to eye allergies, dry weather, air pollution, and even vitamin A deficiency.
Dry eyes cause a person to experience sore, red, watery eyes due to eye irritation, and even blurred vision, which can affect comfort and quality of daily life.
One cause of dry eyes is meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). MGD is a condition where meibomian gland function is impaired, resulting in the lipid layer in tears not forming optimally. As a result, tear evaporation occurs more quickly, leading to various dry eye symptoms.
The use of eye drops is one way to address dry eyes. “Based on our studies, approximately three out of four patients who consult doctors currently experience dry eye symptoms. Based on these findings, we developed this product to help medical personnel manage various dry eye symptoms more comprehensively,” said Patcharin Charmnoot, Alcon SEA Cluster Head, in a press release received by Tempo.

Systane Complete Multi-Dose Preservative-Free is an eye drop that can be used for the entire spectrum of dry eye, from evaporative dry eye caused by lipid layer disorders, to aqueous-deficient dry eye caused by a lack of the aqueous layer, to mixed dry eye. This product works by supporting the entire tear layer, including the lipid layer, thereby helping maintain tear film stability and comprehensively relieving various dry eye symptoms.
This product features nano-sized lipid droplet technology combined with Hydroxypropyl Guar (HP-Guar), which has been clinically proven to provide multi-symptom relief for dry eye patients. It also features PureFlow technology, a preservative-free multi-dose bottle with a one-way valve designed to prevent contamination and facilitate use.
