As part of the changes in the Presidential Cabinet, Mustafa Çiftçi, who has held various positions in the civil administration and parliamentary bureaucracy, has been appointed as the Minister of Interior. Çiftçi, who began his professional career as a district governor candidate, also has experience as a senior advisor in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, in addition to his administrative duties within the Ministry of Interior.
Mustafa Çiftçi, who has held important positions in various levels of the state, has been appointed to the seat vacated by Ali Yerlikaya at the Ministry of Interior. Çiftçi, who has a broad service history ranging from district governorship to civil inspector, and from the bureaucracy of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey to governorship, has become Turkey’s new Minister of Interior.
Born in 1970 in Konya, Mustafa Çiftçi began his civil administration career by getting a taste of the field. Çiftçi served as a District Governor in the following districts across different regions of Turkey:
Çiftçi, who also took on critical responsibilities in the Ankara bureaucracy, served as the Department Head within the General Directorate of Personnel at the Ministry of Interior. He then moved to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), where he held strategic positions such as the Private Secretary and Chief Advisor to the President.
Appointed as the Governor of Çorum in 2018 and serving there for 5 years, Çiftçi was appointed as the Governor of Erzurum in 2023. While his term in Erzurum was ongoing, he took over the Ministry of Interior with the latest decree published, becoming the new manager of internal security and local government policies as a person with a civil administration background.
