More than 20 years on from its last episode, legendary Liverpool soap Brookside is set to make a special return to our screens tomorrow, October 22. The special one-off episode will air as part of a crossover episode with its successor Hollyoaks, which is celebrating its milestone 30th birthday and honour Sir Phil Redmond, who created both shows.
The Channel 4 show, affectionately known as Brookie, ran from 1982 to 2003 and was filmed and set on Brookside Close in West Derby. Pioneering and tackling important social issues, over the years, a number of families were at the centre of the biggest storylines.
As Brookside is making a special return in 2025, we’ve so far taken another look back at where The Corkhills are now, as well as The Grants. But now, we wanted to revisit what The Dixons did next.
The Dixon family, first consisting of mum DD, dad Ron and children Mike, Tony and Jacqui, arrived in Brookside in 1990 and along the way more partners and children were added to the mix. Ron famously feuded with Max Farnham and Jimmy Corkhill – and who could forget the tragic death of Tony, who was killed in a car accident along with Frank Rodgers.
This list is not intended to be comprehensive, but we’ve included a number of things about some of the Brookside stars since they departed the soap. See more in our gallery below.
