On December 19, a powerful windstorm swept through Colorado’s Front Range and caused severe damage to the roof of Longmont Climbing Collective, a valued Longmont Chamber member and an anchor for outdoor recreation and community in Longmont.
A significant portion of the repair and replacement costs falls directly on the business. Despite this unexpected challenge, the team at Longmont Climbing Collective is working quickly to reopen while continuing preparations to host two major upcoming events — our January Business Before Hours and the UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup.
The Ice Climbing World Cup is a significant event for Longmont, bringing international athletes and thousands of spectators to our city. It plays an important role in supporting our local tourism economy, showcasing Longmont on a global stage, and contributing to the continued growth and vitality of our community.
The owners of Longmont Climbing Collective have long been champions of building community through inclusive, welcoming spaces. Their work has helped make Longmont stronger, more culturally vibrant, and more diverse — and this is a moment when our community has the opportunity to show up for them in return.
