A NEW motorcycle-focused mobile app is taking a system-level approach to one of the most persistent risks in Philippine mobility: what happens when a rider goes down and no one knows where to find them.
Launched in December 2025 by Colab Digital Solutions, Wheelbase is designed to function as a real-time safety, navigation, and coordination platform for motorcycle riders. While its creation was prompted by a fatal accident involving a member of the Ride Rats motorcycle group in 2024, the app’s focus is firmly on practical tools that work before, during, and after a ride.
At the center of Wheelbase is its Emergency Safety system. The app integrates with operating system-level crash detection available on supported smartphones. When a crash is detected, Wheelbase automatically triggers an alert. Riders can also manually activate the system through a simple three-second press within the app. Once triggered, the system immediately sends notifications to pre-selected emergency contacts and chosen riding group members, sharing the rider’s last known location in real time. The objective is to eliminate guesswork during emergencies and reduce response time when seconds matter.
Outside of crash scenarios, Wheelbase is built to support riders during everyday road situations. The app includes location-based tools that allow users to quickly search for nearby motorcycle repair shops, parts dealers, and accessory stores. This feature is aimed at riders dealing with breakdowns, mechanical issues, or urgent repairs — particularly useful during long rides or unfamiliar routes.
Wheelbase also functions as a ride-tracking and route-sharing platform. It records trips across both paved roads and off-road trails, logging distance, routes, and ride data that users can review later. Riders can choose to share their routes with the community, helping others discover new roads, trails, and destinations while building a shared database of rider-tested routes.

Connectivity is further extended through the app’s community and coordination features. Wheelbase allows users to create riding events ranging from small group tambikes to large, organized rides and brand-led trade shows. Event organizers can manage guest lists by setting events as public or private, giving them control over participation and visibility.
In addition, the app includes a built-in marketplace where users can buy, sell, or trade riding gear within a network of fellow riders and participating brands. By keeping transactions within a shared community, the platform aims to provide a more trusted environment compared to open classifieds or general marketplaces.

Taken together, Wheelbase positions itself as more than a passive tracking app. It is designed as an active riding companion — one that combines emergency response, navigation support, ride documentation, and community coordination in a single platform. In a market where motorcycles remain a primary mode of daily transport and rider vulnerability remains high, tools that improve visibility, connectivity, and response time are becoming increasingly relevant.
Wheelbase is currently available on the Apple App Store, with an Android release scheduled to follow on Google Play.
