CHUBBUCK — The Portneuf District Library’s featured resource for July is their collection of outdoor games, including bocce ball, frisbee and many more. Patrons who are looking for ways to enjoy the warm weather can find the featured resource display at the library’s main service desk throughout the month.
On July 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the American Red Cross will host a blood drive at the library. Donors can go to redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code PDL to sign up for a donation time. The donation center will be set up in the library’s Cozy Corner.
The ISU Integrative Physiology Lab will visit the library on July 9 at 1 p.m. for an interactive program including live beetles and animal pelts. Patrons of all ages can join.
On July 10 at 1 p.m., the library will host their Read-What-You-Want Book Club for patrons ages 18 and up to chat about their current reads, hear about what others are reading and enjoy snacks.
The library will also host movies in the Teen Zone on July 10. Patrons of all ages can stop by the library at 3:30 p.m. to enjoy a movie.
Teen Late Night will be on July 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. Teen Late Night is a casual hang-out for kids ages 12 to 18 with snacks and optional activities. Check Portneuf District Library’s Facebook and Instagram accounts the week of the event for details.
On July 14 from 1 to 2 p.m., the ISU Physics Department will be at the library for a Fun with Phluids presentation. Patrons of all ages are welcome.
Cozy Corner, a monthly art or craft activity for adults ages 18 and up, will be on July 15 and 16. Crafting sessions will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on both days. This month, patrons can meet in the Cozy Corner to make mosaic tile coasters.
On July 18 from 1 to 2 p.m., patrons of all ages can stop by the library to design and launch stomp rockets.
The Idaho Museum of Natural History’s mobile Idaho dinosaur exhibit will visit the library on July 25 from 1 to 2 p.m. Patrons can see fossils and learn about the dinosaurs of Idaho.
On July 28, patrons ages 18 and up can stop by the library’s main service desk to pick up a take-home craft kit. One craft kit will be available per patron while supplies last. This month’s kit will include supplies and instructions to paint a mini magnet picture frame.
No regular summer programming will be held July 1 through July 4.
Regular summer programming will resume on July 8 with STEM activity kits for kids 18 and under. Kid’s STEM activity kits can be picked up at the library’s east lawn every Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. Teen Grab & Go activity kits for kids ages 12 to 18 will be available for pick-up in the Teen Zone every Wednesday. Art activity kits for kids 18 and under will be available on the east lawn from noon to 2 p.m. every Thursday. Any remaining kits can be picked up from the library’s main desk. Summer Storytime! will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Story Walk, a picture book in posters placed along the sidewalk just across the street at Stuart Park, will be available any time on Fridays.
Portneuf Library will be closed on July 4 in observance of Independence Day.
