Another Nintendo Direct is just around the corner. The gaming giant is heading into the holiday season with the recently released Switch 2, and it will likely show off some of the big games coming out for the console. That could start its celebration of its most iconic mascot.

Nintendo says its next Nintendo Direct will take place on Friday, Sept. 12, according to a post on X on Wednesday from the company’s account. As is typically the case with these teasers, Nintendo didn’t reveal many details of what it will show off, but there is some speculation of what games it may focus on during the event.

Nintendo says the next Nintendo Direct will be on Sept. 12 at 6 a.m. PT/9 a.m. ET.

Like previous Nintendo Direct events, the show will be streamed live on Nintendo’s YouTube channel and Twitch channel.

Nintendo says the show will be roughly 60 minutes.

Nintendo only said in its tweet that it would give info on upcoming Switch and Switch 2 games, so there is no telling what will be shown, but there are some likely candidates.

The most obvious game Nintendo could focus on is Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The long-awaited entry into the legendary series was to get a release this year, but Nintendo has yet to provide a firm date. Even though the company has kept quiet about the game, there are reports of Metroid Prime 4 receiving age ratings in different countries.

Another important Nintendo franchise that could get some time in the spotlight is Mario. It’s the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., which was released on Sept. 13, 1985, on the Famicom in Japan. For the game’s 35th anniversary in 2020, Nintendo made it a whole year of Mario by releasing Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection, a Game & Watch Super Mario and even Mario Monopoly and Jenga board games. So far, the only Switch 2 game featuring the iconic plumber is Super Mario Kart World, so a proper Mario game could be in the works.

Other news that might be revealed at the Nintendo Direct is more info about Kirby Air Raiders, which is coming out in November, a release date for the hack-n-slash Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment and possibly some new content for Donkey Kong Bananza, which came out in July. There could also be more graphic upgrades coming for the original Switch games.
