During testimony released by the House Oversight Committee, the former president denied any knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes and repeatedly said he “did nothing wrong” in the relationship with Epstein. He told lawmakers he saw no signs that would have alerted him to Epstein’s sexual abuse of minors and stated he would have reported such activity if he had known about it.
Republican members of the committee highlighted other parts of the footage: a lawmaker reported that Mr. Clinton could not recall President Trump ever saying anything that would link him to Epstein’s crimes. The committee also released additional video showing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s testimony; that session included a moment in which she briefly left the room after a photo from inside the deposition was leaked.
The depositions did not produce evidence of criminal conduct by the former president. Several questions remain open, including whether additional witnesses will be asked to testify under oath and why specific documents or photos from the depositions were leaked. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have signaled they may pursue more interviews and subpoenas as the committee continues its review.
