Perez Hilton reacted after a viral video surfaced online, revealing disturbing new details in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of TODAY show anchor Savannah Guthrie. In an article published on his website on February 4, Hilton addressed how the newly circulating footage had shifted the investigation in a far more troubling direction than initially believed.
Hilton suggested that what had first appeared to be a routine missing-person case was now taking on darker implications.
“New video circulating online has cast a devastating shadow over the search for Nancy Guthrie…who vanished from her Arizona home over the weekend. And what investigators are now confronting is deeply unsettling,” Hilton explained.
According to a CBS News report dated February 3, after Nancy Guthrie disappeared, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a ransom note was sent to a local Arizona news station. Sheriff Chris Nanos said the station had received the note on Monday (February 2) and agreed not to report on it.
As per the report, the note reportedly included specific details about Guthrie’s home and what she had been wearing the night she vanished.
In his website article, Hilton also referenced this development, adding that the alleged ransom note had been sent to TMZ, demanding millions of dollars in Bitcoin. While authorities reportedly took possession of the note, its authenticity had not been verified. However, Hilton emphasized that even the existence of such a demand underscored the “chaos and uncertainty surrounding this case.”
The podcaster then detailed the viral footage shared by NewsNation senior correspondent Brian Entin on Tuesday, February 3. According to Hilton, the video appeared to show physical evidence consistent with violence at Nancy Guthrie’s home.
He pointed to one disturbing image, which looked like “dark blood” splattered across the “brown tile” just outside the front door of Nancy Guthrie’s home. Hilton said the markings appeared to form a trail leading away from the entrance, an image he described as “impossible to shake” once seen. Hilton also noted a second piece of footage that had intensified concerns.
“Then, in a separate video, Entin pointed out something that has been echoed in other previous reports: Nancy’s Ring camera is missing entirely from its usual spot, a detail that only adds to the sense that something went terribly wrong,” Perez Hilton added.

The podcaster first detailed that Nancy Guthrie was “reported missing” on Sunday, February 1, and since then, “details emerging from law enforcement have grown increasingly grim.”
“Authorities confirmed blood was also found inside the home, though it has not been clarified whose blood was discovered. Still, it’s all pushing this case far beyond a simple missing persons report,” he added.
Perez Hilton then explained that police no longer believed Guthrie left voluntarily. Based on the reports related to the case, Hilton added that the police suspected that Nancy was “taken from her home outside Tucson against her will” and it “possibly” happened “in the middle of the night.”
