This past weekend the “Superman” movie paused on its World Tour for a Press Junket in the USA that saw James Gunn and the cast of the new movie discuss the film, reveal new footage, and answer media interviews.
Here is a collection of the video interviews released so far…
CBS Sunday Morning:
Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz talks with director James Gunn about his re-imagining of the Man of Steel, and with actor David Corenswet about the challenges of taking on the role following Christopher Reeve’s preeminent performance. Mankiewicz also talks with critic Elvis Mitchell about how – in an era of superhero movies – Superman is unique.
CBS Sunday Morning:
In this web exclusive, Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz interviews actor David Corenswet about a career that stretches from childhood experiences on a Philadelphia stage, to playing Superman in the latest big-screen incarnation of the comic book superhero. Corenswet also talks about his family’s influence on his love of old movies; what he sought while studying at the Juilliard School in New York; and about following in the shadow of Christopher Reeve.
CineXpress:
Gunn sees the film as an “antidote to what’s going on in the world,” positioning Superman as a “beacon of hope” and a “metaphor for the immigrant story and experience”. Superman embodies love, kindness, and cares for all oppressed people, contrasting with current cultural “meanness”. While embracing comic book mythology, like “flying dogs and giant imps,” Gunn aimed for a balance between spectacle and “humanity and the groundedness,” maintaining the film’s reality. Finally, Gunn confirmed the DCU’s commitment to representation, highlighting the inclusion of Blue Beetle, a Mexican hero, to ensure people see themselves reflected in characters.
Manly Things (sort of) Podcast:
Sally sits down with Evan to talk about what it’s really like prepping for the Superman worldwide press tour as David Corenswet’s stylist. From coordinating with global fashion brands to crafting a cohesive style vision, Evan breaks down the behind-the-scenes work that goes into dressing one of the most talked-about actors of the year.
As an added bonus, here is the Trecho Press Conference from the Rio de Janeiro section of the “Superman” World Tour:
The World Tour now moves on to its next stop… London!
“Superman” will be in theaters and IMAX nationwide on July 11, 2025, and internationally beginning 9 July 2025, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
