The Victoria Liberal Party is expected to oppose Labor’s plans to implement a state-based Indigenous Voice to Parliament.
The plan would establish a taxpayer-funded body that would provide advice to the state government on policies on behalf of Indigenous Australians.
Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan is confident the proposal is supported by Victorians.
The Shadow Cabinet will officially consider the proposal; however, multiple Liberal MPs believe the party will ultimately oppose it.
The Liberals are also exploring the possibility of scrapping the policy if they win the next election.
