QNET, a global e-commerce and direct selling company that focusses on wellness and lifestyle products, organises what it called V-Convention (VCON) for short. It is QNET’s flagship event, a biannual gathering for direct sellers, business leaders, industry experts and global entrepreneurs. It is a platform to learn about the direct selling industry, QNET’s products and services, and network with other professionals.
To understand better what VCON is all about, after every VCON, QNET Nigeria organises a webinar where journalists who attended the conference in Malaysia tell their stories about what they see, first hand. This was aimed at Building brand trust by helping people understand QNET better, changing perceptions through the power of storytelling.
According to QNET Nigeria’s General Manager, Ayokunmi Solesi, in his opening address at this year’s VCON Media webinar which took place on Tuesday, 5th of August, 2025, said, “QNET is a brand committed to transparency, growth, and making a lasting impact, in Nigeria and around the world. “We are here to build trust and correct misconceptions. We know there has been a lot of inaccurate information about QNET online, and we believe the best way to address this is by letting people who have experienced our brand firsthand tell their stories.
“That’s why we have invited journalists who attended our V-Convention (VCON) to share their unfiltered perspectives. These individuals saw everything for themselves, asked tough questions, and had honest conversations. Today, they will be sharing what they saw and how it changed their view of QNET,” Solesi stated
He added that part of the aims of the webinar was to change the perception of QNET through storytelling. “We want to change the perception of QNET through storytelling. Let’s be honest, stories are more powerful than press releases. When people you trust share their personal experiences, you listen. We are opening up this space for your voices to lead the conversation.
“We also want to inspire action. Beyond discussing what happened at VCON, we want to ask: what’s next? How do we keep this momentum going and continue to engage with the media and the community in a meaningful way?
Solesi added that QNET as an organization is about empowering people through entrepreneurship. “QNET is about empowering people through entrepreneurship. In Nigeria, where jobs are scarce and opportunities can be limited, we offer a real platform for people to earn, grow, and take control of their future. This is a global story that is playing out all over the world. VCON is a massive global gathering where people from diverse backgrounds come together for one goal: growth. Our journalists witnessed this firsthand, seeing how our products and the opportunities we provide are changing lives,” he said.
Precious Igbonwelundu, Head of City Crime, Defense Desk and Assistant Head of Investigation Desk at The Nation Newspaper, who has attended VCON shared her experience, she said, “My experience at VCON exceeded all my expectations. I have covered QNET in Nigeria before, but I never realized the scale of the company. The crowd I saw at the Spice Arena in Penang was incredible. I saw thousands of people from India, the Philippines, Africa, and the Middle East, all working toward a common goal. They all understood they were not employees; they were individual business owners, focused on rising and helping their downliners rise with them.
“I was amazed by the passion and drive I witnessed. It was an eye-opener because I saw that QNET is not just about networking. It is a direct-selling company built around its own real products and services. I was also deeply impressed by the humility and selflessness of the founders. When they walked on stage, the emotional applause from thousands of people was a testament to the love and shared vision they had inspired,” she said.
Speaking on what stood out for her during the conference, she said, “A lot stood out for me, especially the level of transparency. We have heard many negative things about QNET in Nigeria, but when they took us to places like the Quest University, we were given unprecedented access. We even saw the cadavers used for medical experiments — I don’t believe a fraudulent or faceless business would grant that kind of access. This gave us a firsthand view of how real the company and its sister businesses are, and the impact they are making on society.
“I was also motivated by their ethical approach and strong corporate governance. I saw that they are a company focused on giving value, not just making money. They motivate people and ensure that their representatives follow laid-out procedures, even requiring them to take examinations from time to time to stay in the system. These moments were truly commendable and memorable for me,” Igbonwelundu stated
Kayode Bakare, also a Media Professional with over 16 years of experience and the Group Head of Programme at Rhythm FM Nigeria, also attended VCON.
He said his time in Malaysia was amazing, even from the moment the plane took off from Lagos. “We received five-star service and were treated incredibly well.
“Our journey started at the QI headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, where we met with John Agama. He clarified a lot of things for us, addressing the scams that have been associated with the QNET name. He highlighted some of QNET’s products, like the Edge Plus and the eGuard, giving us a better understanding of what they do.
“From there, we went to Penang for the VCON. Seeing over 8,000 participants from different countries was truly fascinating. I had never seen a direct-selling company pull such a crowd. It was inspiring to hear the co-founders talk about their journey and how they have helped people become successful through the business.
“We also had one-on-one conversations with QNET’s key executives and were given the opportunity to ask questions, including what the company is doing to combat scams in Africa. We were also taken to the QI University, where we met the vice-chancellor and toured the entire campus, including the medical and radio facilities. This helped us understand that some people in Nigeria had created a fake campus to scam others.
“In one word, it was an amazing and delightful experience. We now know for sure that QNET is a legitimate company, and they are actively working to address the actions of dishonest individuals who use their name.
“At the QNET Carnival, we got to experience some of the products firsthand, like the eGuard, wellness products, and luxury watches.
“Hearing the inspiring speeches and seeing the excitement of people who were making a living and a life for themselves through the company was truly remarkable. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish,” he narrated.
The webinar also offered other participants the opportunity to make comments and offer suggestions on what they felt would help QNET overcome wrong perception about the company in Nigeria.
Some suggested that QNET should establish as many physical offices in Nigeria as possible because Nigeria believe that in seeing is believing.
Another suggestion appealed to the management of QNET to ensure that the company gets to the Northern Nigeria so that those in that part of the country could benefit from the array of products made by QNET, among other enriching suggestions aimed at deepening the presence of QNET in Nigeria and Africa.
