An extension group from USP’s School of Economics, Business Administration, Accounting and Actuarial Science is organizing an event on September 23-24 focused on international planning and experience for the academic community
Representatives from foreign universities, exchange agencies, and several countries will take part in the USP Exchange Fair 2025, to be held on September 23-24, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., at USP’s São Paulo campus in Butantã, in the building of the School of Economics, Business Administration, Accounting and Actuarial Science (FEA). The event is organized by FEA’s Tutorial Education Program (PET FEA) and is open to the entire USP community as well as students from other higher education institutions in São Paulo interested in exploring opportunities for study and experience abroad. Participation is free, and registration can be completed through this link.
The fair is held annually in the second semester with the goal of democratizing access to information about exchange programs and allowing students to experience academic and cultural opportunities beyond the University campus. Participants will find booths, lectures, raffles, giveaways, and opportunities to ask questions about exchange programs offered by USP and other institutions. Giveaways are also planned for attendees.
Exchange Manual
The PET FEA USP group provides an online manual offering essential tips for a successful exchange experience. The publication, available for free here, covers everything from the visa application process and clothing suggestions for different climates to guidance on affordable rentals and the importance of learning the language of the destination country.
As highlighted in the Exchange Manual, “if your destination is a country where the official language is not Portuguese, it is recommended – if not essential – that you learn the local language and obtain a proficiency certificate to attend university. It presents information about the main language proficiency exams and their levels.” This recommendation underscores the importance of linguistic preparation for a full academic and cultural experience.
In addition to practical tips, the manual also introduces the International Cooperation Commission (CCInt) of FEA USP, which suggests that students interested in exchange programs have a financial reserve of approximately R$ 28,000 to cover travel expenses. To complement this information, the Cost Survey developed by the PET FEA USP Exchange Fair aims to detail the specific living costs for each destination, helping exchange students with their financial planning.
The manual notes that “the estimates are based on more than 450 exchange reports written by FEA students since 2018. Costs are divided into four categories: accommodation, transportation, food, and others (mainly insurance, entertainment, and essential services). Airfare was not included due to significant year-to-year fluctuations.” Grounded in real data, this methodology lends credibility to the information and helps future exchange students plan more accurately.
Registration for the Exchange Fair is free and can be completed here. The event will be held at USP’s School of Economics, Business Administration, Accounting and Actuarial Science (FEA), located at Avenida Prof. Luciano Gualberto, 908, in São Paulo’s Butantã neighborhood.
