USDC Goes Live on XDC Network
XDC Network (XDC) announced today that USD Coin (USDC), the regulated stablecoin issued by Circle, is now launching natively on its network. This launch means USDC on XDC is fully backed and 1:1 redeemable, just like the versions on Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL). Users can now hold and transfer real USDC on XDC without relying on bridges or wrapped tokens, making transactions faster, more secure, and easier to integrate into apps.
The integration leverages Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol V2 (CCTP V2). Unlike wrapped tokens, CCTP uses a “burn and mint” process: tokens are burned on the source chain, verified by Circle’s attestation system, and newly minted on the destination chain—here, the XDC Network.
Expanding USDC’s Cross-Chain Reach
With this addition, USDC strengthens its presence across multiple blockchains, cementing its status as the most widely adopted regulated stablecoin. USDC is already natively available on 24 networks, including Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Avalanche, Base, Arbitrum, Stellar, and Polkadot.
This launch follows another recent milestone: Circle’s Gateway, introduced earlier this month, enables instant USDC transfers across seven major blockchains—Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Ethereum, OP Mainnet, Polygon PoS, and Unichain.
