Take a tour of Frank Ward’s dioramas and collectibles at an open house held at noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Ward Building, 2114 N. Lincoln Ave.

The event is open to the public to view the collection of military miniatures, uniforms, posters, models and more and to raise funds for the Loveland Veterans Monument.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.

For details, contact Ed Hart at 970-459-7728 or [email protected].

Learn more about the Loveland Veterans Monument at veteranshonormonument.org.

Wildlife Window columnist Kevin Cook will present his monthly nature talk on the theme “Colography: The Nitty-Gritty Colorado,” at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the Loveland Public Library, 300 N. Adams Ave., in the Gertrude Scott Room.

The free program sponsored by Friends of the Loveland Library will cover the many details of how Colorado came to exist as a geographic place.

“Remembering the Past to Anticipate the Future” is the theme for November, exploring how during the first century and a half of America’s existence as a country, people obliterated entire ecosystems, affecting everything from aesthetics to economics, and how such realities motivated concepts of conservation and preservation.

For details, visit lovelandpubliclibrary.org/events.

Loveland Open Lands and Trails will hold office hours to share nature guide volunteer information at 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, and 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the Parks and Recreation Administrative Office, Suite 200, 500 E. Third St.

Those considering volunteering can drop in and visit with the coordinator and trainer, ask questions about volunteering, how programs are scheduled, even brainstorm what you might present on behalf of Loveland Open Lands and Trails.

Training for the Loveland Interpretive Naturalist Guide Program (LING) begins on Wednesday, Nov. 5, and continues on Wednesday mornings for three weeks.

Interpretive Naturalist Guide Training is for volunteers interested in offering presentations, demonstration activities, and guided walks on behalf of Loveland Open Lands and Trails.

Learn more at Offero.cityofloveland.org (click on the training dates in the calendar).

For details, contact Michele Van Hare at 970-962-2643 or [email protected].

Arcana: A Candlelit Tarot Storytelling Game Night will be held at 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Artworks Center for Contemporary Art, Loveland

Arcana is a new tarot-inspired storytelling game from the creator of Truth or Fate.

The Halloween playtest of Arcana — a tarot game where stories unfold by candlelight and fate guides your choices, will let participants draw cards, weave stories, and take part in a living ritual of play — no tarot experience needed.

Physics & Foam: An Exploration of Time will be held at 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Loveland Aleworks, 118 W. Fourth St.

Dr. Jan Chaloupka, from the University of Northern Colorado Department of Physics and Astronomy, will discuss how physicists create pulses of laser light lasting a billionth of a billionth of a second long, how astronomers can look billions of years backwards in time, and where we fit within this incredible scale of time and space.

The event will combine beer, science and trivia for prizes.

For details, visit lovelandaleworks.com/events.

The Colorado Bridal Show will be held at 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at Embassy Suites, 4705 Clydesdale Parkway.

The show will feature wedding professionals, samples and more.

The Fort Collins Historical Society will present “Washington Park and Its Role in the Community” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the Masonic Lodge, 225 W. Oak St.

One of the two original Fort Collins’ parks, Washington Park has not had an easy existence but has played an important role to those living around it as a gathering space. Learn how the city and the Black and Hispanic communities of Fort Collins have used Washington Park over the past century and a half.

“Beatles vs. Stones — A Musical Showdown” comes to the Union Colony Civic Center, 701 10th Ave., at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5.

The debate between the Beatles and the Rolling Stones has been going on ever since they first crossed paths on the charts 61 years ago. The argument at the time, and one that still persists, was that the Beatles were a pop group and the Stones were a rock band: the boys next door vs. the bad boys of rock. So who’s better?

Tribute bands Abbey Road and Satisfaction — The International Rolling Stones Show will engage in an on-stage musical showdown.

The Greeley show is part of a 125-stop tour of the U.S., Australia and Canada and has been touring since 2011. The production includes some of the more popular songs from the two rock pioneers and covers the scope of their musical careers.

Tickets are $51-$81 and available at 970-356-5000 or ucstars.com.

The next Poudre Pub Talk will be on “Terry Bison Ranch Project” at 6-7 p.m. Nov. 4, at Rule 105 Brewing, 4731 W 10th St.

Sean Chambers, Greeley’s director of water and sewer, will speak.

Monthly Poudre Pub Talks explore water and other issues at local breweries.
