Markham’s Unionville Curling Club has received a $74,100 capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation to replace aging plumbing fixtures and upgrade its stormwater system.
The club has been in its current building since 1959 and the pipes leading to the municipal sewage lines had become corroded. The main sewer line, including all branch lines on the interior and exterior of the building, needed to be replaced.

Billy Pang, MPP for Markham-Unionville, said the upgrade will help ensure that the club remains a welcoming, safe and accessible space for individuals of all ages to stay active and connected with their community.
“On behalf of the Unionville Curling Club, I would like to thank our MPP, Billy Pang for supporting our grant application and to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for the grant, which has allowed us to ensure a healthy and safe environment for over 1,000 people using this club annually,” said Michael Heap, President, Unionville Curling Club.
