UFC teams up with Fight.ID to bring digital collectibles, rewards, and blockchain-powered fan experiences to combat sports audiences.
Sports leagues worldwide are grappling with how to keep digital-first audiences engaged. Traditional tactics like ticket promotions and social media pushes aren’t always enough for younger fans who expect personalized, interactive experiences. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is betting blockchain can help.
On Sunday, Fight.ID, a Web3 platform for combat sports fans and athletes, announced an expanded partnership with the world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) organization, UFC.
The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between the UFC’s global fan base and the growing community of Web3 users by introducing digital identities, loyalty systems, and new reward mechanisms.
The two parties have already worked together on UFC Strike digital collectibles. The next phase goes further: Fight.ID will develop programmable rewards, a prize pool to boost fighter bonuses, and exclusive merchandise tied to blockchain-based ownership.
To fund the expansion, Fight.ID closed a new investment round backed by several high-profile names. Institutional investors include Anthos Capital, the Aptos Foundation, and Web3 venture Memeland. Among individual backers are UFC stars Gilbert Burns and Alexandre Pantoja, as well as Animoca Brands Chairman Yat Siu.
According to the announcement, the fresh funding will support the development of products that integrate verifiable digital ownership with interactive fan experiences. All offerings will follow Fight.ID’s four guiding principles: Fight Fair, Fight Together, Fight Through, and Fight Forever.
Blockchain Drives a New Era of Fan Economies
The UFC move highlights a broader trend where sports organizations are increasingly experimenting with blockchain to create new kinds of fan economies.
FIFA partnered with Avalanche in early 2025 to launch a dedicated Layer‑1 blockchain, FIFA Blockchain, aimed at consolidating its NFT ecosystem and enhancing fan engagement ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
In the United States, teams are following suit. Seattle Orcas (cricket) and Seattle Seawolves (rugby) partnered with BlockDAG to bring NFTs and other Web3 tools into the fan experience, giving supporters digital collectibles, access to exclusive polls, and special content.
Fan tokens are also gaining traction. Chiliz’s fan token hit a $1 billion trading volume in a single 24-hour period last year, signaling strong demand and growing maturity in the blockchain-powered sports market.
