The UAE’s stockpile of medicines and medical supplies is secure and sufficient to meet the needs of the local market, the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) said on Wednesday, assuring residents that pharmaceutical supply chains in the country are operating normally.

Saeed bin Mubarak Al Hajeri, minister of state and chairman of the board of directors of the Emirates Drug Establishment, said that the pharmaceutical sector in the UAE is functioning with a high degree of stability and preparedness.

He said that the country maintains a strategic reserve designed to ensure the availability of essential medicines required by citizens, residents and visitors in adequate quantities for extended periods.

“The UAE has adopted best-in-class policies and strategies to maintain a strategic reserve that guarantees the availability of all essential medicines,” said Al Hajeri, adding that strengthening pharmaceutical security remains a key national priority.

He added that the country follows a comprehensive strategic vision aimed at ensuring the sustainable availability, quality and safety of medicines under all circumstances.

According to Al Hajeri, the establishment adopts a proactive approach based on risk assessment and emergency planning, which strengthens readiness and helps reinforce public confidence in the UAE’s pharmaceutical system.

Dr Fatima Al Kaabi, director general of the Emirates Drug Establishment, said they continue to maintain high levels of operational stability, ensuring uninterrupted access to medicines and medical supplies across the country.

She explained that the establishment conducts daily field monitoring and closely tracks medicine movement and stock levels at factories, warehouses and storage facilities through integrated systems developed with strategic partners.

“This monitoring guarantees the continued availability of essential medicines and helps prevent shortages of key products,” said Dr Al Kaabi.

She added that current indicators related to the availability of medical products remain stable and reassuring, supported by effective forward planning and strong coordination with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, other relevant authorities and the private sector.

Dr Al Kaabi also mentioned that pharmaceutical security is one of the fundamental pillars of the UAE’s healthcare system, adding that the establishment follows a forward-looking strategy to ensure sustainable medicine supplies and strengthen the sector’s preparedness to respond to all scenarios.
