Sydney veterans Dane Rampe and Jake Lloyd are facing a full 360-moment with the pair heading back to where it all started; the rookie draft.
Both Rampe, 35, and Lloyd, 32, are surprise end-of-year delistings from Sydney, but the club has promised to snap them up in the rookie draft.
Of course, way back in 2012 the Swans first got their hands on the duo, selecting them in that year’s rookie draft.
They then went on to forge incredibly successful careers, with durable defender Rampe becoming an All-Australian, a best-and-fairest winner, and was a joint captain from 2019-2023.
Lloyd — who has been Sydney’s defensive distributor for many a year but was moved to a wing this season — is a two-time best-and-fairest winner and has played 271 games, while Rampe has managed 272.
They sit first and second on Sydney’s ‘most games played as a rookie’ list, and have continued the Swans’ rich history of successful rookie pick-ups (that includes famous names such as former captains Brett Kirk and Kieren Jack, premiership defender Nick Smith, and current star Tom Papley).
“Dane and Jake have both been fantastic servants of this football club for a long time, so we’re excited they will be going on again in 2026,” Sydney’s football manager Leon Cameron said.
“Both boys are extremely well-respected members of the playing group and contribute to the club on so many levels, on and off the field.
“We have committed to taking both Dane and Jake in the upcoming rookie draft, because we believe they will continue to play valuable roles for us next year.”
Lloyd featured in 22 games this year and Rampe played in 21.
