ORLANDO, Fla. – This week, another News 6 anchor is set to say goodbye after more than a decade of serving Central Florida.
Anchor Bridgett Ellison joined the News 6 team in 2010 after working at local TV stations in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.

Ellison quickly rose through the ranks at News 6, going from weekend anchor and reporter to the co-anchor of News 6 Mornings, where she helped Central Floridians start their days for over 13 years. Beyond that, many viewers may know Ellison from her work on projects like Making a Difference, Something Good, Getting Results in Our Schools, and Getting Results for Your Health.
And in 2024, her digital-only program “Breakfast with Bridgett” — which focused on live interviews, community highlights, and morning news updates — earned a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for “Excellence in Innovation.”
Following the news of her departure, Ellison shared this message with viewers and the News 6 team:
“It’s time to turn the page and start a new chapter. It has been a great honor to cover news for our community over 14 years with the News 6 team. I appreciate our viewers for allowing me to tell their stories and share some of my own along the way. Their love, trust, and support have been driving forces for my dedication. I am forever grateful for the opportunity and will cherish many memories from this time with my friends and colleagues at News 6. I’m looking forward to opportunities to grow and see what God has on my next assignment. I’ll keep you posted online about the new paths on my journey.”

“Bridgett Ellison has contributed a tremendous amount of time and care to News 6 and our shared connections to our community,” said News 6 Director Autumn Jones, who joined the team back in April. “Bridgett and others like her do a lot for our viewers, even as the broadcast television industry is changing and transforming all the time.”
Ellison’s last day on the air at News 6 will be July 2.
