Donald Trump has responded to newly released Epstein emails that name the US President, as the White House confirms Virginia Giuffre’s name was redacted.
On Wednesday, Democrats released emails that named Mr Trump, and alleged that he “knew about the girls”, in a correspondence between convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, author Michael Wolff and Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s partner who is now behind bars over her mastermind role behind the crimes.
The phrase “knew about the girls”, appears in an email between Wolff and Epstein, allegedly talking about Mr Trump, however, the exact context is not clear.

Mr Trump on Wednesday erupted at Democrats over the latest development in the Epstein scandal, with the Republican claiming the emails were a hoax.
“The Democrats are trying to bring up the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax again because they’ll do anything at all to deflect on how badly they’ve done on the Shutdown, and so many other subjects,” Mr Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“Only a very bad, or stupid, Republican would fall into that trap.
“The Democrats cost our Country $1.5 Trillion Dollars with their recent antics of viciously closing our Country, while at the same time putting many at risk — and they should pay a fair price.
“There should be no deflections to Epstein or anything else, and any Republicans involved should be focused only on opening up our Country, and fixing the massive damage caused by the Democrats!”

In an additional post, Mr Trump again claimed Democrats were trying to shift focus away from the US Government shutdown.
“In other words, the Democrats are using the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax to try and deflect from their massive failures, in particular, their most recent one — THE SHUTDOWN!” he wrote.
Speaking from the White House, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the Democrats didn’t care about Epstein victims, instead claiming they were using emails as political ammunition now that Mr Trump was back in office.
“This is truly a manufactured hoax by the Democrat Party. Now they are talking about it all of a sudden,” she said.
“When Joe Biden was in there (the Oval Office), the Democrats never brought this up. This wasn’t an issue that they cared about because they actually don’t care about the victims in these cases. They care about scoring political points against President Trump.

The release came on the day a new Democratic member is scheduled to be sworn into the House, a move expected to be a tipping point in a campaign to force a vote on releasing all non-classified files related to Epstein, reigniting interest in a case that has been a major political headache for Mr Trump.
The batch of emails released on Wednesday includes a 2011 message to Maxwell in which Epstein described Mr Trump as “that dog that hasn’t barked,” adding that Mr Trump had “spent hours at my house” with one of his victims, whose name is redacted.
Ms Leavitt told reporters the email leak by Democrats was “selective”, claiming it created “a fake narrative to smear President Trump”, adding that the redacted victim in the emails was the late Virginia Giuffre, “who repeatedly said President Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing whatsoever”.
Democrats and many Republicans have repeatedly called for the Trump Administration to publicly release all files relating to the Epstein scandal, something that has not yet occurred.
The emails come just two weeks after Andrew Windsor-Mountbatten was stripped of his title and kicked out of the Royal Lodge by his brother King Charles III.
Announcing the move, Buckingham Palace said: “Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”
It came after new emails revealed Andrew had been in contact with Epstein longer than he had previously disclosed.
Andrew’s relationship with Epstein was put in the spotlight during a 2019 BBC interview, which many believe was the beginning of his public reckoning over the scandal.
