Donald Trump is entering the telecommunications market with a new cellular brand, Trump Mobile, announced today by Donald Trump Jr. The new venture will offer a single wireless plan called “The 47 Plan” and will also sell a gold-accented smartphone, “The T1 Phone,” purportedly manufactured in the United States.

Trump Mobile’s service is a white-label offering built on Liberty Mobile, an existing mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). “The 47 Plan” provides unlimited talk, texting, and data, though speeds will be throttled after the first 20GB each month.
During the announcement at Trump Tower in New York City, Donald Trump Jr. stated the goal was to build something for “people who have been underserved” and “make sure that real Americans could get true value from their mobile carriers.” However, “The 47 Plan” will cost $47.45 per month, which is approximately double the price of comparable unlimited plans from other low-cost carriers like Mint Mobile and Boost Mobile. For context, Liberty Mobile, the underlying MVNO, offers plans starting at $20 per month. Customers will have the option to use their own devices with a Trump Mobile SIM card.

Details on “The T1 Phone” remain sparse, but the website lists some specifications: a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a triple-camera setup (50MP main, 2MP depth, 2MP macro), a fingerprint sensor, “AI Face Unlock,” and a 5000mAh battery (described as “long life camera” on the site). The phone will reportedly run on Android 15 and is priced at $499. This price point raises questions about the “manufactured in the United States” claim, as estimates for American-made iPhones are in the ballpark of $1,500.
This new venture follows a series of lucrative licensing deals for Donald Trump. His recent financial disclosure revealed over $50 million in income from token sales related to his crypto venture with World Liberty Financial. The disclosure also listed significant incomes from other Trump-branded products, including $2.8 million from Trump Watches, $2.5 million from Trump Sneakers and Fragrances, $1.3 million from the Greenwood Bible, and $1.16 million from his NFTs.
