Trump cuts ties with Marjorie Taylor Greene, accusing Georgia Republican of being ‘far left’ – ExBulletin

President Donald Trump publicly quit with one of his most loyal MAGA-global supporters, calling Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene a “wacky” Marjorie and saying he would support a challenger against her in next year’s midterms if the right person came along.

The firing of Greene, who was once the embodiment of Make America Great Again, sporting the iconic red cap from President Joe Biden’s 2024 State of the Union address and acting as a go-between for Trump and other Republicans on Capitol Hill, appeared to be the final break in a dispute that had been brewing for months as Greene apparently moderated her political profile. The three-term U.S. congressman has increasingly been at odds with Republican leaders, attacking them during the just-ended federal government shutdown and saying they need a plan to help people who lose their subsidies be able to afford health insurance policies.

Accusing the Georgia Republican of going far left, Trump wrote that all he has witnessed from Greene in recent months is complain, complain, complain! adding, regarding Greene’s alleged irritation with him not answering his phone calls, I can’t take a call from a ranting Lunatic every day.

In a response on X, Greene wrote Friday that Trump attacked me and lied about me. ” She added a screenshot of a text she said she sent to the president earlier in the day about the release of Jeffrey Epstein’s files, which she said pushed him over the edge.

Greene called it astonishing how hard he is fighting to keep the release of the Epstein files from reaching this level, referring to the U.S. House of Representatives’ vote next week on releasing the Epstein files.

Writing that she supported Trump with too much of my precious time, too much of my own money, and fought harder for him even when almost every other Republican turned their back on him and denounced him, Greene added: “I neither love nor serve Donald Trump.

Trump’s message appears to have tied a bow of finality to the fissures that widened after this month’s off-cycle elections, in which voters in gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia flocked to Democrats, largely due to concerns about the cost of living.

Last week, Greene told NBC News that watching foreign leaders come to the White House through a revolving door doesn’t help Americans, saying Trump needs to focus on high prices at home rather than the recent emphasis on foreign affairs. Trump responded by saying Greene had lost her way.

Asked about Greene’s comments earlier Friday as he flew from Washington to Florida, Trump reiterated that he felt something had happened to him over the past two months, saying that if he had not gone to China to meet with leader Xi Jinping, there would have been negative consequences for jobs in Georgia and elsewhere because China would have maintained its restrictions on magnet exports.

Saying people were calling on him to challenge Greene, Trump added: “She has lost a wonderful conservative reputation.

Greene’s discontent dates back at least to May, when she announced she would not run for Senate against Democratic incumbent Jon Ossoff, while attacking GOP donors and consultants who feared she could not win. In June, she publicly sided with Tucker Carlson after Trump called the commentator crazy in a schism that emerged between MAGA and national security hardliners over possible U.S. attempts at regime change in Iran.

This only intensified in July, when Greene said she would not run for governor. Then she attacked a good old political system, alleging that it endangered Republican control of the state. Greene has gone on a charm offensive in recent weeks, with interviews and media appearances aimed at people who are not staunch Trump supporters. When asked on comedian Tim Dillons’ podcast if she wanted to run for president in 2028, Greene said in October, “I hate politics so much and I just wanted to solve problems, but I didn’t give a definitive answer.”

This culminated with an appearance on Bill Mahers’s HBO show Real Time, followed a few days later by a November 4 appearance on ABC’s The View. Some observers have begun calling Greene reasonable in criticizing Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana for failing to call Republicans back to Washington and develop a health care plan.

I feel like I’m sitting next to a completely different Marjorie Taylor Greene, said Sunny Hostin, co-host of The View.

Maybe you should become a Democrat, Marjorie, said co-host Joy Behar.

I’m not a Democrat, Greene replied. I think both sides have failed.

A free press is the cornerstone of a healthy democracy.
