Towns claim two wins in weekend’s Geraldton T20 and one-day cricket competitionsVictor TantiGeraldton GuardianTue, 16 December 2025 2:00AM

Towns scored two wins over the weekend in Geraldton’s T20 and One-Day competitions.

They started with a 53-run win over Bluff Point in Friday’s Young Motors T20 at Wonthella, playing in the Craig DeLacy Shield.

Towns made 4-118, as Ryan Thomas (48) was gifted a half-dozen drops including three off successive balls and rode his luck. Crouch (26) added 43 with Thomas while Breen (20 not out) put on a lively 45 with Thomas. Carl Shilling (2-17) did well with the ball.

In the chase, Pinto was run out by a Gerard Marquis direct hit in the first over which set the tone, and they were all out for 65, thanks to Towns’ sharpness in the field. Kodi Giltrow (3-14) and Callum Marquis (2-8) took wickets.

Towns then backed it up on Saturday defeating Chapman Valley-Northampton by 91 runs at the Rec.

Towns’ Sam Crouch batted after he won the toss and openers Austin Breen (43) and Tom Witt (34) put on 79, before Adam Goacher superbly ran out Breen. Goacher also removed Witt and Callum Marquis.

Ringo McKenna (54 off 63 balls) got his side to 204 and was the last man out, caught by Lachy Teakle off Brad Boyer. Nate Thomas-Magee (15) also made handy runs until caught off Teakle (2-26).

CVN tallied 113 in the reply with only Teakle (28) making a score. A 55-run stand between Teakle and Boyer was the highlight. Wickets went to McKenna (2-14), Breen (2-21), Witt (2-12) and James Gardiner (2-4).

Wrapping up the weekend’s action, Wanderers beat Bluff Point by two wickets in Saturday’s Geraldton Bendigo Bank Cricket League at Muir Park.

A dry pitch caused issues, with good length balls rearing up. The Pointers, who batted after Cody Doran won the toss, made 106 — almost enough.

Theo Curtis (31) was solid until caught by Shayne Bidwell off Ian Oglesby, who later repaid the favour when he snared Jayden Pinto (15) off Bidwell (3-22) who also held three catches.

Gus Heberle (2-13) struck first ball with Seb Bainbridge caught by Zane Marwick, who bowled economically with his 10 overs costing just 10 runs. Justin Clarkson (2-13) and Mitch Thompson (2-18) also shone.

In the chase, Wanderers lost Damien King to Antonio Paradella (2-11) while James Morrison (4-40) had Marwick caught by Pinto at short midwicket, a good reaction grab. Pinto held two other fine catches including one in the gully diving forward.

Morrison removed Kade Gillingham, Colin Culloton and Jet Plunkett, and it was 7-76 after Flynn Heberle was well caught behind by Bainbridge.

Heberle (29) opened with 21 of his runs from 11 James Moody balls, while Matt Clarkson made quick runs but edged Doran (2-29) into his stumps. Wanderers needed 13 to win., which was no problem as Bidwell won the game with a four followed by a six.
