Tottenham have secured some financial protection in the event of going down with relegation clauses included in contracts. According to The Athletic, former chairman Daniel Levy inserted the provision into most players’ deals that would see their salaries reduced by 50 per cent should Spurs be in the Championship next season.
Defeat to Fulham on Sunday means Spurs are still without a Premier League win in 2025 and are firmly in the relegation fight against West Ham and Nottingham Forest. Both of those teams lost this past weekend with Tottenham remaining four points off the drop zone.
Igor Tudor has been brought into the club as interim head coach with the sole aim of keeping them in the Premier League. His temporary spell has not got off to the best start with Spurs beaten by Arsenal and Fulham in the last week.
Their next clash arrives this coming Thursday and is another London derby with Crystal Palace as the visitors to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Elsewhere, West Ham take on Fulham while Forest have another away game against Manchester City.

Tottenham travel to Liverpool the following week with FA Cup fifth round action taking centre stage before then. Over that weekend, the Hammers take on Man City whilst Vitor Pereira’s side host Fulham.
Tudor delivered a brutal verdict after Spurs’ latest defeat but refused to speak about the possibility of relegation in his post-match press conference.
He said: “Not enough, not enough. They were better, they deserved to win, nothing is smart to tell you in this moment. We need to forget this game and focus on training tomorrow. Difficult moment, difficult situation, but only way is to come tomorrow on the training and try to do better, better things.
“I don’t want to speak about relegation, but all the time I comment this and I always give the same answer, so I will not respond to the answer. My answer is always the same.”
Unfortunately, it is a topic that cannot be avoided any longer with one of Spurs, Forest or West Ham most likely to join Burnley and Wolves in the bottom three.
A decisive clash in who ultimately drops down to the Championship will undoubtedly be Tottenham’s upcoming match against Forest before the March international break.
