Firefighters are battling a terrifying bushfire in parts of Bullsbrook, with locals warned it’s too late to leave because the blaze has “impacted evacuation routes”.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services issued an emergency warning for residents bound by Bingham Road, Muchea South Road and north of Neaves Road, including parts of Tonkin Highway, in the City of Swan.
The bushfire — first reported about 1pm last Wednesday — is moving in a northerly direction.
It is not contained or controlled.
“You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes,” a DFES spokesperson said.
“It is too late to leave. Fire has impacted evacuation routes and leaving now will put your life in danger.
“You must shelter before the fire arrives, as the extreme heat will kill you before the flames reach you.
“If your home catches fire and the conditions inside become unbearable, go to an area that has already been burnt.”
Firefighters are on the scene fighting the blaze, with several water-bombers assisting ground crews from the sky.
A number of roads have been closed, including Tonkin Highway in both directions at Neaves Road and parts of Muchea South Road.
A separate emergency warning is also in place for locals bound by Muchea South Road, Great Northern Highway, the Raaf Base Pearce and Morrissey Road intersection.
Residents have been ordered to evacuate in a southerly direction via Great Northern Highway, if safe to do so.
“Do not wait and see, leaving at the last minute could put your life in danger,” a DFES spokesperson said.
The cause of the blaze has been deemed accidental.
