The Arewa Political Awareness Movement (APAM) has noted that key government policies and reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s administration can build a stronger Nigeria.

This was even as they urged Nigerians to embrace awareness, accountability, and unity as tools for national development.

Speaking at the sensitisation public awareness programme held at Asad Pyramid hotel, Kaduna on Wednesday, the Convener of APAM, Jabir Usman, said the initiative was designed to strengthen civic responsibility and promote informed participation in governance.

“Through awareness, accountability, and unity, we can build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria. It is our moral and civic duty to enlighten Nigerians about what the government is doing in their favour.

“We are here today because democracy thrives when citizens are informed, conscious, and actively involved in governance. Platforms like this help replace rumours with facts and division with constructive dialogue,” Usman said.

He described APAM as a grassroots, non-partisan movement committed to educating young people and communities on politics, governance, and public policy, stressing that leadership should be judged by its impact on citizens rather than propaganda.

“Leadership must be measured by results, not rhetoric. The true test of governance is how policies affect the daily lives of ordinary Nigerians, especially the less privileged,” he stated.

Highlighting achievements in the education sector, Usman commended the establishment of the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing it as a breakthrough in expanding access to tertiary education.

“NELFUND ensures that poverty will no longer be a reason for dropping out of school. Children of the less privileged can now pursue higher education without financial barriers,” he said.

He also praised the approval of a pension scheme granting retired university professors benefits equivalent to their annual salaries, noting that the policy restores dignity to the teaching profession.

“This policy sends a strong message that Nigeria values academic excellence and lifelong service,” Usman added.

Usman further cited the establishment of new federal universities, particularly universities of health and sciences in Kachia, Azare, Tsafe, and Funtua, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality education nationwide.

On youth empowerment, the APAM convener highlighted the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme, which aims to equip three million Nigerian youths with digital skills by 2027.

On Security, Usman said improved coordination among security agencies had yielded positive results, particularly in parts of the North-West and North-East.

“Intelligence sharing and rapid response have significantly improved. Communities once terrorized by bandits are gradually experiencing stability,” he said.
