The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the South-West region will continue to stand solidly behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The party stated that no amount of opposition propaganda or political posturing could erode the region’s long-standing loyalty to the President.
This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Lagos APC spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, who described recent remarks from supporters of PDP chieftain, Dr Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, as “baseless political noise.”
Oladejo dismissed Olawepo-Hashim’s claim that the South-West would not re-elect Tinubu, saying the PDP aspirant had neither the political structure nor the capacity to mount a serious challenge.
“Olawepo-Hashim is a perennial aspirant and a convenient mascot for opposition desperation,” Oladejo said.
He added that Tinubu would “decisively defeat any coalition of forces” seeking to block his re-election bid, describing the PDP and its allies as “a party evidently bankrupt of both human and material resources.”
The Lagos APC spokesman mocked Olawepo-Hashim’s so-called endorsements, describing them as “photocopied letterhead endorsements from tiny rallies and press statements that do not translate to votes.”
“In the unlikely event that he somehow emerges as the presidential candidate of the free-falling PDP, he will be roundly beaten at the polls,” Oladejo declared.
He stated that the opposition’s strategy was based on propaganda and misinformation, rather than credible alternatives or performance records.
Defending the Tinubu administration’s record, Oladejo said the current government is building a “solid and irreversible foundation” across critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, agriculture, security, and fiscal reforms.
He faulted critics for what he termed “selective statistics and currency rhetoric,” arguing that they conveniently ignore the progress being made in various aspects of governance.
“Those who traffic in selective statistics and currency rhetoric do so because they cannot defend the alternative, a return to the waste, arrogance, and economic mismanagement that nearly extinguished our nation’s potential,” Oladejo stated.
Taking a swipe at opposition figures, Oladejo accused them of mistaking publicity stunts for leadership.
“To the political jobbers behind this noise: stop insulting the intelligence of Lagos residents and Nigerians,” he said.
“Issuing press releases is not equivalent to governing effectively.”
According to him, while the PDP continues to engage in “theatrics and empty spectacle,” Tinubu is providing direction, leadership, and tangible results.
Oladejo maintained that the South-West would not abandon its own son, insisting that regional pride and political alignment would play a crucial role in the 2027 elections.
“In 2027, voters will choose continuity under a president who has provided direction and results, rather than the empty promises of political tourists,” he said.
