In response to the growing mental health needs of adolescents, particularly during the summer months, Three Rivers Behavioral Health is proud to announce the launch of its new Adolescent Outpatient/Day Program for youth aged 11-17.
While summer often brings a break from academics, it also marks a sharp decline in the daily structure and supervision that many adolescents rely on throughout the school year. As trained educators, counselors, and support staff step back for the season, many teens are left without essential eyes on their well-being. Recognizing this gap, Three Rivers Behavioral Health designed this program to ensure that support doesn’t stop when school does.
Supporting Teens Through a Critical Developmental Period
The program is ideally suited for adolescents experiencing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief, personality disorders, family discord, bullying (whether as aggressor or victim), and difficulties with peer relationships. By targeting these common and deeply impactful issues, the program aims to provide teens with the tools they need to better navigate the complex world around them.
Therapeutic Framework and Creative Integration
At the heart of the program is a robust group therapy model that draws from evidence-based modalities, primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). These frameworks equip participants with effective coping strategies to manage distress, regulate emotions, and improve interpersonal effectiveness.
What sets this program apart is its integrative and creative approach. In addition to traditional therapy, participants will engage with art, music, and film — powerful mediums that resonate deeply with adolescents and help make complex emotional concepts more accessible and relatable. Through these creative avenues, teens will explore themes of identity, resilience, emotional expression, and connection.
A Safe, Structured, and Supportive Environment
The outpatient/day program offers a structured setting that maintains a sense of routine during the unstructured summer months, while also allowing flexibility for families. The goal is not only to support adolescents in crisis but to proactively build mental wellness before small issues escalate.
“This program fills a critical void,” says the Program Director at Three Rivers Behavioral Health. “Teens need a safe space where they can express themselves, build coping skills, and feel seen — especially during a time of year when many of their support systems are on pause.”
Looking Ahead
Three Rivers Behavioral Health invites parents, guardians, educators, and providers to consider the new adolescent outpatient program as a vital summer resource. Referrals are currently being accepted, and spots are limited to ensure a personalized and impactful experience for each participant.

Because mental health doesn’t take a summer break — and neither should support.
