Making it to work on time during the frosty winter months can be a challenge, especially when the cold temperatures make leaving your cosy bed feel like an uphill battle.
For drivers, the day often kicks off with a fogged-up windscreen, which is far from ideal when you’re already feeling the pressure of time.
Amazon offers a potential solution, currently selling the Pingi reusable car dehumidifier bag for just £8.33, a 15% discount from its usual price of £9.80. This handy device can be placed in the car to absorb moisture, aiding in keeping windscreens clear and saving valuable minutes on the morning journey to work.
The Pingi reusable car dehumidifier bag operates by using silica to passively absorb condensation and moisture from the air. According to Pingi, it’s 100% leak-proof, so there’s no need to worry about any untidy spills while on the move.
Featured on the front of the Pingi reusable car dehumidifier bag is a handy moisture indicator that changes colour from blue to pink once it’s full. To ‘recharge’ the bag, users simply need to pop it in the microwave for six minutes.
The reusable dehumidifier bag weighs in at 300g, but customers could opt for a 1kg version for £16.99 (reduced from £19.99) which holds more water and therefore needs recharging less frequently. There are also 350g versions available, in packs of two (£13.25 down from £15.59) or four (£25.49 down from £29.99), reports the Manchester Evening News.
Elsewhere, Lakeland is offering this Absodry Mini Moisture Absorber for £14.39, reduced from £17.99, which uses absorbing crystals to extract moisture from the air. Whilst not specifically designed for vehicles, its compact dimensions make it ideal for tucking into a car’s storage areas, with the manufacturer claiming it delivers up to 90 days of moisture control before requiring replacement.
Another alternative is the UniBond Aero 360 compact moisture absorber, available at Dunelm for £12.50. Each refill tab provides up to 90 days of moisture and odour absorption to maintain freshness.
But back at Amazon, the Pingi car dehumidifier is proving popular, with an overall customer rating of 4.1 stars out of five, from more than 30,000 reviews.
One happy shopper said: “They do work! I had real problems with morning condensation in my car. I used two of these and bingo, no condensation at all. Real value for money.”
Another added: “This is my second time buying this dehumidifier for my car. My last one lasted 3 years before it started becoming less effective, so it was time to get a new one. Amazing as always. Kept having the problem with my windows and mirrors being wet in my car but after only having this in overnight, I woke up to everything being completely dry. Definitely recommend!”
And a third buyer said: “Best thing ever. I was very sceptical about purchasing these, but decided that I would give them a try. I wish I had done it earlier, they do work. I walked out the first morning after putting in the car and from the outside it looked misted up, but I got in, put wipers on and the screen was clear all on the outside.”
However, one customer was left disappointed, writing: “I have had this for a while now as my current car seems very prone to heavy condensation. Unfortunately this has not proved as good as the reviews. Sad.”
