We are excited to continue our Web3 x AI Market Map series, with the debut of the Abstract AI Market Map. Abstract is one of the chains driving mainstream adoption to Web3, leveraging their Pudgy Penguins IP in order to enhance adoption and onboard audiences. Abstract notes a high active wallet ratio of ~30% and continued recent growth in their TVL in pursuit for further liquidity and appeal to mainstream consumers. In AI deployment, Abstract’s efforts are primarily led by their core contributors and Head of AI Growth (Abril), with a focus on onboarding AI developers and creators in pursuit of consumer AI applications.
Introducing Abstract
Abstract is an ETH L2 built by Igloo Inc, the parent company of Pudgy Penguins and spearheaded by it’s CEO Luca Netz. Abstract’s testnet was launched on July 26, 2024, with the mainnet closely following on January 27, 2025. The blockchain is centered around a consumer-first focus, which is a key driving differentiator for Abstract. It is self-described as the “blockchain leading the next generation of consumer crypto.” Luca emphasizes that Abstract’s goal is to “revolutionize consumer Web3,” by focusing on simplifying blockchains interactions and dApps with real-world interest in gaming, entertainment, and culture. It integrates and leverages the wider Pudgy Penguins ecosystem to onboard active users, both crypto natives and non-crypto natives.
Abstract has key features of focus in pursuit of mainstream adoption, including the introduction of social logins, gasless transactions, and leveraging the existing IP of Pudgy Penguins in order to onboard potential users of the chain.
The effectiveness of the Pudgy Penguins IP was seen just recently. By mid-July, we saw a wave of companies including Coinbase, OpenSea, Binance.US, VanEck, Brave, and many other companies changing their X profiles into Pudgy Penguins NFTs, a sign of how massive Pudgy Penguins has grown since its inception and both the retail and institutional interest in Pudgy Penguins and the wider Abstract ecosystem. Abstract benefits from the success and adoption of Pudgy, primarily through onboarding users (leveraging the flagship IP) but also through the number of gaming IP dApps on Abstract that use the likeness of the NFT project.
The Portal: Differentiated Experience
What primarily differentiates the experience on Abstract vs other chains is the focus on consumers.
Upon log-in, and in experiencing the Abstract ecosystem portal a user is greeted with Spotlight Apps that is similar to an Appstore. It offers an “Explore All Apps,” feature with sectors in Gaming, Trading, and Social. True to its focus on consumers is the distribution and categorization of the dApps listed on the platform. 33 of the dApps fall under “Gaming,” with 9 falling under the Social category. Combined, these figures represent nearly ~68% of the listed dApps on the Abstract apps gateway, a significant deviation from other chains.
It is therefore no surprise to note that the majority of the Abstract AI ecosystem is dominated by Applications (The Application Layer), with GameFi and SocialFi in the spotlight for adoption. Another unique feature/integration of Abstract is the focus on Streams and creators, introducing a native, live-streaming view directly integrated in their native dApp, and allowing creators, streamers, and users to engage in both content creation and monetization. Viewers of streams are also able to “tip” their favorite creators, with a 100% earnings retention rate. $ETH, $PENGU, and Abstract meme tokens like $NOOT are some of the available tipping and payment options.
The main time-constraint for any streamer is the ability to stream 24/7 with personalized, authentic content. Over time, we at Decasonic believe that streamers will integrate AI Agents to solve this constraint. This includes the creation of AI Clones, with each clone replicating and acting on a streamer’s image and likeness. Users will then be able to ‘tip’ the AI Agent(s) directly, creating human-agentic companionship.
Ecosystem AI Integration
The Abstract team is actively seeking more AI projects on Abstract. Cygaar, a contributor to the Abstract chain is primarily spearheading their AI developments, including integrations of two leading crypto agentic frameworks in Abstract. This included the integration of ElizaOS’s A16Z framework, with on-chain transaction functionality back in December ’24 of last year. This continued with the announcement of a partnership between Arc’s rust-based agentic framework and Abstract earlier in January ’25 of this year, with the vision of enabling AI-powered applications to be launched directly on Abstract.
To date, with all of the ecosystems we have covered in our Web3 x AI Market Map Series, we have not noted an ecosystem actively deploying AI Agents. At Deasonic, we believe AI Agents can work alongside human teammates. We currently deploy a ratio of 15 AI to each human team mate, and we believe the future of work is a hybrid human-agentic workforce.
The Abstract team is working towards an agentic co-existence with their humans and we are very excited to see it in the works. Ecosystems benefit from having AI Agents be front-facing, interacting with their communities and providing a gateway for 24/7 content and engagement with users. With all of the available tools, including Google’s Veo-3, it’s hard to imagine a more practical, engaging way of keeping communities engaged without the presence of AI tools. Kudos to the Abstract team for taking initiative.
Outside of the official AI Agent in the works by Abstract, two of their AI Agents stand out. Mirai, which was launched through Ava/Holoworld, and functions as a “virtual human” that interacts with users through emotion-aware conversations. Another ‘central’ AI Agent in the ecosystem is one launched by Abstract’s DevRel team, ‘Blaickrock.’ It is described as an ‘asset management’ firm with a set of three agents focused on research, trading, and an intern.
AI Developer Experience
We are investor-builders at Decasonic, and actively leverage existing AI tools in order to push the boundaries of what’s possible in Web3. The Abstract team leverages this sentiment, and is actively pushing for improving and creating AI tools for developers, creators to build on Abstract. This also includes their ‘Aibstract Day’ hosted earlier this year on Feb ’25, and the creation of ‘Head of AI Growth’ role for their chain led by Abril. .
Abstract Ecosystem Stats
The TVL on Abstract has grown from ~$6.7M at launch to $42.7M. Nearly ~24% of the TVL is in stablecoins, with the chain generating an annualized average dApp fee of $11.3M. The cumulative Bridged TVL has crossed $67.9M since mainnet, with an upward trajectory of growth. The moving average of transactions on Abstract stands at ~386.4k, with a cumulative transaction count of ~106.2M. The total wallets created crossed ~2.95M, with a high number of Active/Total wallet addresses at nearly 30%. dApp radar highlights the ‘UAW’ on a more recent 7D basis of ~25.8k, with an upward trajectory. Overall, the chain has grown since its debut, and continues to attract capital, builders, creators, and users.
Abstract AI Market Map (2025)
Similar to our other market maps focused on Web3 x AI, we map the Abstract AI ecosystem across two axes:
Note – as with our other market maps, this landscape is continuing to evolve. The current state of the ecosystem is unlikely to remain static over the next few months and years to come. To date, we have identified 40+ projects building Abstract AI categorized based on our three key pillars noted below. As the ecosystem continues to evolve, and as the AI efforts of the Abstract team expands, we believe this figure is likely to multiply over the next few months and quarters.
The Abstract AI ecosystem continues to evolve, and Abstract as a chain is at its infancy. The chain has been active for a period of ~6 months, its AI ecosystem continues to grow and attract a combination of developers and users. Considering our three core pillars identified in our market map (Infrastructure, Applications, and Interface) layers, 5.3% fall under Infrastructure, 68.4% under Applications, and 26.3% under Interface. Similar to our previous ecosystem market map, Soneium AI, the majority of the distribution for Abstract falls under ‘Applications,’ with a heavy skew towards GameFi, SocialFi dApps and experiences.
We believe that some of the upcoming opportunities for further differentiation of the Abstract AI ecosystem includes:
Conclusion
Abstract’s AI ecosystem continues to grow. Its high active wallet ratio of 30%, in combination with the chain’s focus on development for their AI integrations, infrastructure, and dApps continues to attract AI builders and creators. While it remains in its early stages, the development of Pudgy Penguins from an NFT project, to an IP, to a chain continues. We at Decasonic are excited to see what comes next.
