Infinity has come to the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.
The result of a collaboration with internationally renowned sculptor Richard X. Zawitz, the hotel’s 34rd floor has become the “Infinity guestroom floor”.
There are infinity-themed artworks, which go along with a limited-time solo exhibition in the hotel, in the city’s dynamic Admiralty district.
Richard X. Zawitz has developed what he calls a “curvism style”, combining the fluidity of curves with the Chinese philosophical concepts of Tao and Zen.
“My work is not just about form and material,” he says. “It’s a deep exploration of the interconnectedness of all things, of the balance between yin and yang, and of the endless flow of Tao.”
A spokesperson for JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong says it is the first hotel in the city to dedicate an entire guestroom floor to the vision of a single artist. And, during the city’s Art Month of March, there is a gallery of Zawitz’s works on level three of the hotel.
“This exciting collaboration embraces Hong Kong’s creative energy while bringing JW Marriott’s commitment to mindful luxury to life,” JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong general manager G.P. Yeow tells us.
“By transforming our Infinity guestroom floor into a living gallery, we invite our guests to immerse themselves in art that inspires reflection and connection, and creates a serene escape amidst the dynamic excitement of the city’s art scene.”
WHAT GUESTS SEE
+ The hotel lobby features The Statue Of Infinity.
+ On the Infinity guestroom floor on level 34, guests are welcomed by Infinite Child, a striking stainless steel sculpture.
+ Each guestroom and suite has its own miniature Infinite Child sculpture, an art book chronicling Zawitz’s journey, and a catalogue of his work.
+ The Infinity Suite by Richard X. Zawitz has flowing curves across the living area, bedroom and bathroom.
A hotel spokesperson says: “The Infinity guestroom floor affirms JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong’s commitment to mindful hospitality, offering guests an artistic journey throughout their stay.”

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sculptor Richard X. Zawitz is famous for capturing the essence of form and energy.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, and influenced by the city’s steel industry and history, he majored in fine arts sculpture at the University of Hawaii, and minored in Asian philosophy and art history.
He travelled and studied extensively throughout Asia in the 1970s, learning more about the principles of the Tao and the interconnectedness of things.
During his studies, he became focused on the curve, the wave and the spiral.
They are fundamental forms linking the natural world with artistic expression.
For Zawitz, infinity is not an abstract mathematical concept, but an expression of the human spirit . . . the creativity we demonstrate in our everyday lives.
Now almost 80 years old, Zawitz remains energetically and passionately engaged in art creation.
He lives on the Big Island of Hawaii, where he is cultivating an Art Farm, a sanctuary for creativity.
