What impact have the current global uncertainties had on the company’s R&D and product development in recent months?
At Big Blue Marble, we remain firmly committed to R&D investment, despite ongoing global economic, geopolitical, and technological pressures. Our focus has sharpened around building solutions that are resilient, scalable, and secure by design – critical qualities in uncertain times. Media access should be simple, secure, and seamless for everyone.
Rather than pulling back, we’ve doubled down on ensuring our broadcast-grade OTT architecture helps all our customers – whether telcos, cultural institutions, or sports leagues – to adapt to a fast-changing landscape. This includes innovations in low latency video delivery, cloud cost efficiency, and security-first streaming, designed to scale across international markets and diverse use cases.
We see this as an opportunity to help customers address today’s complexity and uncertainty, while also laying the groundwork for future-ready infrastructure.
Successful R&D and product development in the media industry will be judged on how well a company balances keeping pace with rapid technology evolution while meeting increasingly complex customer requirements across geographies. But at the same time, the growing sophistication of content piracy, evolving global regulations, and the rise of hybrid delivery models add new layers of complexity.
We see a deep need for robust multi-layered protection frameworks, such as AI-driven forensic watermarking, session-based tokenisation, geo-blocking and DRM, as becoming mission critical.
Lastly, ensuring interoperability between legacy broadcast systems and emerging IP-based workflows will require thoughtful R&D, especially as hybrid delivery models become more mainstream.
The most promising areas for innovation lie in the acceleration of IP-based workflows, developing new services based on possibilities offered by AI-based streaming solutions and the adoption of 5G Broadcast technologies. These advances are reshaping how content is delivered and experienced in real time, especially for live events and mobile-first viewing.
5G Broadcast enables delivery of TV and radio streams to mobile devices over terrestrial high-power-high-tower networks, enabling resilient distribution of live streaming to an unlimited number of audiences without reliance on mobile networks. This enables new services for low latency event streaming, public service broadcasting, and emergency communications.
Beyond that, our commitment to building flexible, modular solutions means we can support rapid adoption of these new technologies and workflows and help media organisations evolve toward next-generation delivery at scale.
At IBC2025, Big Blue Marble will showcase a unified suite of OTT solutions built for real-world applications. Combining broadcast-grade resilience with cloud-native flexibility, IBC2025 visitors will see how we enable broadcasters, telcos, cultural institutions, sports clubs, and content publishers to launch secure, scalable video services with confidence.
The Big Blue Marble booths (5.H97/H99) will feature solutions including:
* InsysGO – A modular, scalable cloud-based platform with live, VoD, DVR, and monetisation capabilities, built on AWS Services.
* Cloud Video Kit – A set of modular, cloud-based tools for video processing and delivery.
* Cloud DRM – Multi-DRM protection across all devices, with session- and geo-level control.
Attendees can also discover Nakolos – our end-to-end 5G Broadcast streaming solution. Together with our partners, we’ll showcase a live signal over Amsterdam, and the world’s first look at 3GPP Rel-19 innovations for 5G Broadcast.
We’ll also present new security innovations, such as AI-powered watermarking, alongside capabilities designed to support high-scale, high-reliability event delivery.
Big Blue Marble was launched as the joint brand identity of ORS Group and Insys Video Technologies in July 2025.
