The Olympics Have Ended. We Should End Sports ‘Journalism,’ Too.

Now that the Olympics are over, maybe we can set out to destroy sports “journalism.” The winter games in Italy were, like everything thanks to Democrats, marred by the cancer that is progressivism when it came to the coverage of the event. They really do suck the joy out of everything and the world would be better off without them.

I must be honest; I didn’t care much about the winter Olympics. The “big” sports like figure skating and ski jumping stunt games are of no interest to me. Not because the skill involved isn’t impressive; it is, but because they are sports that are judged, not won unambiguously. In other sports, the winner is the fastest, the one who throws the furthest or scores the most points, but the ones where you get “style points” are arbitrary – nothing should be “up to the judges” in sports. It’s the difference between knocking someone out and a boxing match going to the score cards – there’s no ambiguity in a knockout or having a bad or blocked angle of some punches when someone can’t stand up.

But my biggest problem with the Olympic coverage was the way in which Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) has infected even sports coverage of the games. For many of the athletes, these Olympics are the first and, for many of them, the only chance to shine on the national and world stage and you get these jackass “reporters” not asking them about their games, their strategy or accomplishments, but instead about President Donald Trump.

The last thing in the world any human being needs to know is the thoughts of anyone whose life has been spent playing and practicing a sport rather than paying attention to the news or attending class on anything, let alone politics on the world stage. It was dumb of these athletes to answer those questions – “I’m focused on my event, not your political agenda” would’ve been the perfect response to any of these reporters asking these questions – but the shame should really be on the reporters for asking them.

If you’re at the Olympics and you think to ask someone about to compete in what is the culmination of their life’s work and efforts about anything other than that event, you’re the a*****e, no matter how stupid the answer.

You’re not going to meet a world-class skier who is also a world-class intellect. The same goes for skating or any of the other sports in those games. You are pretty much, though not exclusively, dealing with wealthy kids whose parents could afford expensive equipment, pricey leagues, travel and coaches. Once world-class aptitude is discovered, pretty much everything else – including education – falls into the second-place position.

Reporters know this. They also know these kids aren’t savvy enough to tell them where they can stuff their stupid, off-topic questions. Since the bias in media is everywhere, these sports reporters are no different than any of them, hoping to get themselves a booking on Morning Joe and a cable news “contributor” deal. They want to be a part of the club, and the club is restricted on the basis of liberal activism.

There isn’t an American media outlet with staff on the ground in Italy that isn’t left-wing corporate propaganda – garbage in, garbage out.

The Atlantic, a plaything and propaganda rag of Democrats’ megadonor and good friend of Ghislaine Maxwell, Laurene Powell Jobs (widow of Steve Jobs), ran a piece reading, in part, “Since the Games began earlier this month in Italy, journalists have asked a number of athletes how they feel about representing America, putting them in the tricky position of balancing national pride against their unhappiness with the actions of the current administration.”

The “unhappiness” is assumed on the part of everyone because Democrats are unhappy and they live in a hermetically sealed Tupperware container where they only associate with people who share their neuroses. That anyone would not share their opinions doesn’t occur to them any more than they’re agreeing with uneducated people who’ve given nothing but their sport any thought in the last decade of their lives does.

Democrats exclusively hear from, and only actually hear, and care about those who obey. There were more glowing profiles, interviews and glamour shots of the traitorous Eileen Gu that glossed over her being paid to compete for the Chinese communists than there were of the figure skating gold medalist Alysa Liu, whose family fled China after participating in the Tiananmen Square protests.

Democrats like to pretend they are the man who courageously stood up to those tanks in Tiananmen Square, but the reality is they are the people driving those tanks and ordering them to plow forward, no matter how many innocent people stand in their way. That goes for those who report the “news” and those who cover sports.
