There was a temporary truce among contestants on the long-running MTV series.
Costars Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio, Nelson Thomas, Wes Bergmann, and Devin Walker toasted their costar Kyle Christie’s wedding to Vicky Turner on July 20 in Rome.
Snapshots they posted from the formal affair show the reality stars wearing tuxedos in picturesque locations, apparently getting along rather than brutally competing on the long-running MTV series.
“Who would have ever believed these 4 would be friends,” a fan commented on a photo of the quad smiling at a sit-down meal. Another person was shocked at the seating arrangements: “Wait Devin and Bananas and sitting next to each other???”
Thomas quipped, “Let’s just call it what it is a dysfunctional @mtv @thechallenge family you never asked for, didn’t know you needed, but somehow can’t live without.”
Other images showed the foursome touring the city on electric scooters, staring at the Colosseum in awe, enjoying rooftop cocktails, and posing near Trevi Fountain.
The ultra-competitive show, which combines the emotional skill of The Real World and the grueling physical component of shows such as Road Rules, and features cast members from those shows as well as franchises including Survivor and Big Brother, is famous for the intense feuds ignited. (Often, Bananas is at the center of those.)
Several of their photos featured the groom himself, who legally swapped vows with his bride in December, but hosted the formal nuptials so family and friends could attend.
And they appeared to be squeezing out every moment of decadence and fun.

“Rome is wildly impressive,” Bergmann captioned his collection of gorgeous photos. “Yesterday we survived a nine-hour bar crawl with all of Kyle’s friends and family. Pictured are his parents, not pictured is a slew of his incredibly pleasant degenerate friends he’s known since before he could read (he still can’t, but you get it).”
He added, “The architecture is ridiculous. The pasta and gelato are borderline illegal. And as a redhead, I’m basically treated like royalty here — like some ancient prophecy foretold my arrival. But I didn’t come here for carbs or compliments. I came here with a purpose: to figure out what on earth Vicky sees in Kyle. No luck yet. But I’m giving it time… and wine.”
Both Bananas and Bergmann have been part of The Challenge and its many iterations for decades, and Thomas and Walker are far from rookies themselves.
Bananas, who’s won the show more than any other player, will return in the upcoming season of the franchise, which will feature seasoned contestants and some rookies.
The drama begins on The Challenge: Vets and New Threats on Wednesday, July 30 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with a “Day Zero” launch special airing the week before on Wednesday, July 23 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, all on MTV.
