Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan is stepping into the spotlight, not as an actor but as a director. On Sunday, the much-talked-about first look of his debut web series, ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’, was out, creating a huge buzz online.
The short teaser begins in a very familiar Bollywood style. The opening voiceover feels like a sweet throwback to old-school romance, reminding many of films like ‘Mohabbatein’. But just when it seems like a simple tribute to Hindi cinema, the mood changes.
Then, Aryan himself appears on screen. Confident and direct, he explains his vision in a playful yet honest way. He says, “Bollywood – jisse aapne saalon se pyaar bhi kiya aur vaar bhi kiya, main bhi wohi karunga, bohot saara pyaar… aur thoda sa vaar.”
The show, from its very first glimpse, looks like it’s trying to bridge generations. It takes the dreamy, romantic world of classic cinema and combines it with the energy of a modern storyteller.
For Aryan, this project is extra special. While he has stayed away from acting, this is the first time audiences are seeing him fully embrace his creative side. Earlier, a fun promotional video had already gone viral, showing Aryan directing his father, Shah Rukh Khan.
In that clip, SRK jokingly loses patience after Aryan keeps asking for retakes, telling the crew to “watch and learn” how it’s really done.
The series features young talents Lakshya and Sahher Bambba in the lead roles. Adding star power are special cameo appearances from some of Bollywood’s biggest names: Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, and Ranveer Singh.
Behind the scenes, the project is very much a family affair. Aryan’s mother, Gauri Khan, has produced the series under their home banner, Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. He is also joined by co-creators Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan, who have helped shape the vision of the story.
